Those planes will be parked but the additional pilots are being hired to cover the ramped up flying to cover the loss of the -30s.....Another great plan from the top. Also, hiring a bunch of guys an furloughing them right away is something I wouldn't put past the EMT.

NWA Fleet and Staffing Plan Update
On Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, the Negotiating Committee received a detailed briefing on the current narrow body fleet and staffing plans from Tim Rainey, NWA Senior Vice President of Flight Operations.
Mr. Rainey did deny a recent rumor concerning the elimination of many DC9-30 aircraft in 2008. According to management, there has been no significant change to the narrow body fleet plan as presented as part of the Plan of Reorganization in March 2007. This fleet plan has been thoroughly briefed to the MEC and was presented to the pilots in a management road show earlier this year. Management did indicate that one factor which could impact the narrow body fleet is the level of flying for 2008, which has not yet been established, but at the current time there is no basis for the rumor that all DC9-30s are being removed from the fleet.
Pilot hiring is expected to continue at a high level through the first half of 2008, with hiring then continuing at a lower rate through the end of 2008. Factors regarding the current hiring plan: (1) movement to an 84-hour average monthly maximum, (2) expected attrition, (3) 787 deliveries, and (4) still unknown 2008 flying levels.
We will continue to track the fleet plan and marketing’s planned flying hours for 2008, and report changes noted from the current business plan, if any, as that information becomes available.
