Interviewed in the 3rd week of October. Got the job.. totally pumped to get started, but I haven't heard anything yet. I was told to expect a class date sometime in December. The latest I heard was that guys who are presently interviewing are being told they will be in the pool for classes next year. I don't know if that is in fact true, but I wonder if it has anything to do with the upcoming ATA announcement, I don't know.

I applied 2 months ago. When did you guys apply and what kind of times do you have.

Thanks

I inteviewed the first week of Nov. and was hired with no class date. I have another iron in the fire and in a few weeks I'm afraid I'll have to call them back and tell them to put up or shut up which will be too bad because I want this job but a bird in the hand...

Congrats on having options, reepicheep!

I interviewed sep. Was supposed to be in class NOV 15th. They cut the class in half and moved me back to Dec 6. Cancelled the nov 22nd class.

You have to have an internal recommendation.

I now am beginning to suspect that they may be reevaluating whether to continue hiring or not. Have heard nothing of any more classes being scheduled. For those who have been "hired", don't quit your day job.

Straight from the Chief Pilot's "mouth" :

"We plan to continue to grow our airline, but at a reduced rate. We now are
planning to grow at a rate of 3-5% instead of 10% as originally planned, for
obvious reasons. Pilot hiring will continue for awhile to meet projected
needs and then I plan to build up the hiring pool to finally get ahead of
the game a little. Aircraft deliveries are still on track for now so the
plan is to, basically, just keep hiring until we're told to stop."

Still running classes

They're still running classes. The guys from my interview date have all been told to expect a 12/20 class. We had initially been told 12/6 or 12/13, so read into the 2 week delay however you want, but it's not really a big deal.

Both Positive Rate and Bus Babe have got it correct. We are continuing to interview and hire. I’ve seen a steady stream on Monday for the sim prep (which I strongly recommend) and a good solid line of coats/ties on Tuesdays. We have a new class that starts on Monday (don’t know how many; usually six or eight) and I’ve heard two or three in December. Don’t know January yet. Can tell you that I am way impressed with the quality of training here. General Subjects and Airbus Academics were just Outstanding. Moving towards Flows and Sim training now. Reepicheep, I know you are working the system, but since you were not picked up by SWA, why not come over to AWA? There are lots of folks who were turned down by SWA at HP. AbeFly, sorry to hear that. Was not aware of that. My guess is that they only cancelled right before T-Day due to the fact that training dept is a ghost town that week. I’ve got a seriously light schedule that week because everyone wants to be somewhere else, so don’t read too much into it. With the price of fuel the way it is, every carrier is hurting and waiting for folks to fold. Who will be the four or five standing is anyone’s guess. We have 500M in the bank so can take 10 quarters of 50M losses, and then I’d be worried. I bet others will fold before then. So if you are looking at HP, hang in there. I’m excited to be here and if you pull the onion back a layer, I bet you will be too. It does take some internal help to get pulled along here, but even if you don’t know somebody, go to one of the industry conferences and meet Tracy or Tiffany and then stay at it. Cactus life ain’t bad life at all ….

I second that. Just finished my first trip on IOE and was very impressed. The people, the hotels we stayed at, crew meals, etc.. all were excellent. With all the "big dogs" giving back concessions, pretty soon everyone will be getting paid the same. So, this is definately a great place to be. Good luck to all and keep em comming! I need senority!! :D

Thats not something to be proud about. Your are very mistaken to think that this might not affect you sometime. If it hasn't already.

Thanks for the positive vibes guys.... I'm working on washing years of USAir stink off of me so disregard my skepticism.

MK82Man, my desire is to work for HP, but if my other possible offer (a good flying job outside the airline industry) gives me an ultimatum and still no class with Cactus I will have to take it - can't risk unemployment.

I don't know what the hell made you think I was proud of what's taken place out there, it was just an observation....dude.

How long does it take to get an app. after your resume has been walked in?

I guess I mistakened the big smile after "giving back concessions" as arrogant. My mistake.

And...lighten up Francis. :p

rwelch,

It took more than 3 months for me. I don't know if that is average or not, but the whole process from resume walk-in to job offer was just shy of 8 months. And it looks like it will be about the 10 month mark at the start of class, so it's not a quick moving process.

Thanks PR.
How long was it between your phone call for an interview and the actual interview?
