My buddy is interviewing there tomorrow I was wondering if anyone had some info:

Is there a waiting pool? If so how many people? If not how long does it usually take from interview to new hire class?

What is the current time on reserve?

What is the junior base?

What is the upgrade time?

Overall QOL? Schedules etc?

Thanks in advance for any info. PM me if you want as well.

Not sure about the pool, we have had very small classes for the last couple months though.

Again, not sure.

What is the current time on reserve?

It all depends, attrition has slowed down, but that might be attributed to people waiting to see what happens with the Midwest RFP and the arbitration. Expect the attrition to pick back up in the fall, my guess would be 4-6 months on reserve.

What is the junior base?

Believe it or not, PHL recently went junior. All are very close though, I would venture to say that all bases are reletively the same, most people out of class have been getting PHL reserve though.

What is the upgrade time?

Right now it is hanging between 2.5-3 years. This is very fluid, if attrition picks up it will drop, if we get the Midwest flying I have been told to expect 180 new hires, therefore it will drop, if attrition remains slow and we do not grow, look for a long upgrade. I have not flown with a captain however in the last 6 months that does not have thier stuff in somewhere or that does not intend to put thier stuff in, so I doubt you will see attrition stay stagnant. Again, look for that to pick up again in the fall.

Overall QOL? Schedules etc?

I am an east coaster living in base in PHL, QOL for me is good. I am going to be moving back to New England, commutes from any large New England city is cake, but if you are commuting from the midwest or west expect the commute to suck. Schedules are being built anywhere from 12-15 days off for line holders, relief lines have seen up to 17+ days off, which is one of the reasons they went super senior in PHL this last bid. Overall QOL is better then most regionals, but the general concencous is this place is not what it used to be. If you live on the east coast or are willing to move here, expect to have good QOL, if you commute from anywhere in the midwest, good luck.

Thanks in advance for any info. PM me if you want as well.
About sums up my view, might be different from others here.

Thanks for the info. I'll pass it on.

Skyway doesn't fly 50 seat aircraft, nor does Midwest have the financing or desire to buy them (especially when looking at Airbusses or Boeings). Plus Skyway is getting 2 more Dorniers and the Midwest CEO said that he has no intentions of outsourcing all the regional feed (i.e. Skyway's flying).

Word is it will be narrowed down by the end of the month.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. There was actually a fairly good thread on airliners.net about it. Kind of interesting, even talked about rumors of the main offices being moved to the east coast which doesn't figure to actually happen.

I know last year around this time they were hiring people not even close to their mins... I think maybe I will throw out a resume in case that happens again if they get more flying.

Anyone think a base in MKE would go senior due to the old DEN crowd being closer to home with an easier commute?

If MKE ever opened up you would likely see people take downgrades to hold it. Even reserve would go super senior.

That's what I was thinking... Perhaps DCA would go uber junior then? I would think it would since cost of living is so high there.

DCA has a lot of former INDY guys living there, I would suspect PHL to go junior.

well don't hold your breath F9. It sounds like there will be no outsourcing of anything... just what I heard from a lil birdie, then again what the He!! do I know.

No, I am pretty sure I meant Midwest's.

Unless Skyway has their own website/ticket counter where people can buy tickets to fly on their birds?
Want to split some Seminole time this fall? F9 buff,
you are trully a d0uchebag!!! Get the job and then gawk over them.

I'm an ex FLYI driver.
I chose PHL for easier commute. Plus I was one of the senior ones in class, so I only spent a month and a half on reserve. RSV sucks!!!! You don't fly much. I held a releif line in May, got 17 days off and 85 hours pay credit. Now the Relief lines go way senior. I had lines in July and August which stunk becuase non commutable on both ends. Sept I have a better line which is almost 100% commutable. Except for the schedules, overall, it is not a bad place to go. When I got furloughed from Indpendence, I said the only othe regional I was willing to go to was Air Wisconsin.
The people here are just as great to fly with as they were at my last place. Training was great, and no training Nazis as I didn't have to worry if anyone was trying to bust me. They want you to pass and they'll hrlp you as long as you are willing to do your part. Mgt here has been ok. I had a few circumstances where I was unable to work, and after explaing my case, they were more than willing to work with me and help.
Also be honest!!!!! They do not like dishonesty, as we lost a few in my new hire class over this.
If you get on, welcome aboard! The only real disappointment is that first year pay. Get trhough it and you'll be just fine.

F9...it's our flying, we do the flying for Midwest....ignorance is bliss

There was a time that AWAC did the flying for UAL out of chicago. It was their flying, they did the flying for UAL. But you know what? Now its Mesa, transtates, gojet, skywest, republic, etc. There is not one pilot I blame for commuting from Appleton WI to Philadelphia, all this Sh!t is out of our hands.

Chances are that we will not get the Midex stuff but if we do am I going to apologize for it? No. We turned down concession with promise for growth more times than I can remember this year.

What are ya gonna do?

there is nothing we can do about this...just sit back and take it all in.... Don't put the cart beore the horse f9...assumptio is the mother of all F&cK Ups.

DCA is super jr. Right now the 20-30 indly dudes are already here and they keep increasing the lines by 10 every month.

I have heard very similar stuff CV580 around the airport. All this original talk about hearing something by the end of summer is bull. It will be end of the year minimum before we will hear anything and my bet right now is nobody is going to be able to do it cheap enough for us. Just like our magical jets that we keep hearing about, I will believe another airline is flying for us when I see them pulling up to the gate.

One month reserve after OE is what I did. But what the hell, I bid reserve anyways living within the 2-hour Reserve call-out. I think the name Air Wisconsin stands for itself when you hear it. I dont have to tell you how great it is.

Glad you think so now.

Did you guys have to sign any employment contracts at Air Wis?

I would think once people get in there, they don't have to be bribed to stay.

Does a degree help you or do they care less and just look at TT?

Son, if you can make your letters, cipher some, and know someone, you too can work at Air Wisconsin.

Hi!

Any sign of a base out West?

I was all excited to have a shot at ATW and be an FO on the -146. Oh well.

The latest rumor around AWAC is that we're going to downsize PHL as Republic brings in the 175's. They have been growing DCA a little bit over the past few months so who knows. As a newhire, plan on DCA or PHL.

Awac

Are they only hiring with 121 turbine experence? What the best way to apply? I faxed & mailed my resume in.... Is hiring happening at mins?
