well it looks like china is becoming the pia with the visas.

UACC is not bad just as long as the money is in place before landing.

the handler is set up through a combination of Air Routing and the PA

another thought to pass on to your buddy...(if this is a newer area for him)
Entering Chinese airspace he might expect airway changes/lower altitudes.
They are getting better at this but every now and then they can add 200NM onto your route and push you down to high 20's...

check notams carefully for one way/closed airways and double check your planned route!

all depends what he's flying I guess, but always good to pack extra fuel!

www.nbaa.com under International remarks has great info. I left out the operators contact info as he can get this from nbaa website if he has access.

Date: 06/2005Region: SEA(VII)Country: KazakhstanCity: AstanaICAO: uaccAirport Name: AKMOLA - Astana IntlAircraft: G200Feedback: Handling was by Berkut Air Services +7-3007-33-4850 arranged by Universal. Emir did a great job as our handler in UACC though all communication goes through Berkut in UAAA-Almaty. We were warned prior to arrival that everything operates at a snails pace like in UAAA this is NOT the case. We received better service than in UAAA where the G200 is based. I would recommend using UACC for tech stops instead of UAAA for all future flights.
