Anybody run across Dave Cain, chief proponent for the 99 for 50 seat rate at Skywest?

Ill try to keep the majority of my thoughts on this guy to myself so this post doesn’t get removed. After working in SAPA and helping management with the implementation of such things as 99 for 50 and the bucket system he quickly ducked out of site. The rumor was that he was going to do some flying as a contractor for some military gig. Some speculated he wanted to go under the radar for a while then try to get hired by another carrier. Just wondering if anybody in the industry has seen this guy.

PS- There is nobody including Dave Cain himself that would argue he didn’t push for the 99 for 50 rate with promises of something wonderful later and split rates....etc. The idea was to get the planes on the property first then deal with the details later. Just wanted to clarify this point before someone said untruths were being written about DC. He also (at least at the time it was implemented) took responsibility for helping management make things more "efficient" with the bucket system. The idea was the pilots would get something like long call reserve or something else in return....I think he said the company was averting such things as furloughs because of such measures. I leave that to debate on another thread ;)

He may have led the cheerleading squad but wasn't he only one of many cheerleaders? Kind of unfair to single just him out.

Yeah, pretty weak. I actually used to enjoy throwing him a Latin phrase or two...don't know where he is, but you could probably bitch elsewhere. To what good would it do now for you to know his whereabouts?

Dave is working for a Company near his home town. He was offered a good pay raise, and the ability to be home all but a few nights a month. The job has something to do with technical manual writing. I think there is a King Air at this company and he was promised a flight now and then. I believe he is happier being home with his wife and kids more. I also believe he never forsaw our wages being indefinately frozen at what they are.

The biggest problem I had with DC was that here was guy that obviously had upper management aspirations. Now I have no problem if someone aspires to be upper management. Somebody has to be chief pilot, director of ops, etc.. But if you are going to do that, don't say "I'm all for the pilots" in one breath and then turn around and constantly be on the side of management. But I'm happy that he's found a job that he seems to like.

Vote in a union so that your management cant do this to you.

But how are we gonna take away the ASA jobs when that happens? Come on dude, when I signed up to fly for SKW, my only goal was to take away jobs from acey. How the f**k is that gonna happen if we're ALPA?
