I do my flight training out of Hillsboro, OR where Nike keeps their jets, and 2 days ago there was a brand new Falcon 2000 with a very nice paint job with the trademark swoosh on the tail and "Nike Air" on the side towards the nose. Heard from my flight instructor they sold their GIV and this is the replacement. Just wondering if anyone knew why? What are the advantages of the 2000 as opposed to the GIV?

It's a new 2000EX. I'd agree with J41, probably fits their mission requirements.

The G4 went up for sale when the G5 arrived. I was in Beijing last week and noticed that that G5 was now sporting the same paint job as the G4 and that the G5 now has the N1KE registration. My guess is that the 2000 is their domestic aircraft since Phil Knight is the primary user of the G5.

I would speculate that a major factor is the 2000EX's smaller ramp presence, particularly at Sun River.

The GIV could do it based on the runway, but it pretty well clogged up the ramp, and as a result they didn't take it in there.

The market must have been really bad if it took 3+years to sell a GIV.

Some-dude is correct. They wanted an airplane for that mission as well as one that could provide full domestic coverage as well as an airplane that could go international When they had to without much more effort than the G-IV.

The market has been VERY VERY bad for G4's sales, only recently has it started to turn around. My principal aquired our current G4 when he became CEO (1400's s/n, low time, SP). He wanted to trade it in for a G5. The post 9/11 market crashed so fast that we could not get rid of it.

If a seller was asking a premium for their G4. Then having it on the market for the last 3 years would not be unheard of.

Sorry about my attempt at poor humor. But really, when the G-V showed up they sold the G-III, put NIKE on the G-V and made the G-IV the company airplane while the G-V was the CEO airplane. When they put the G-IV on the market last December AFTER they made the decision to purchase a 2000EX it sold in about 3 months.

For those of you who have an interest in the meaning of tail numbers, the G-4, which was N1KE, was reregistered to N6453. Anyone care to guess what the significance of that tail number is? Look at your telephone touch pad! Cute, eh?

GIV for F2000 ?

Poor Taste is all I can guess ??? Heard those guys flying the Falcon 2000EXs all run at the slightest sign of trouble ??? Naw, just kidding. Not politically correct to blow shingles off of the expensive homes in Sun River Oregon when they are your neighbors. Also sinking into the ramp on a hot day is bad for one's ego. :D :D :D
