I also heard that there where conditional recalls put out to all currently furloughed pilots.

Sure am glad I won't have to sit sideways anymore...

Moe? Not sure if he'd be a better source than an unidentified flight standards pilot.

The union was notified today that eight more crewmembers are being recalled. That leaves no more than 20 remaining on furlough.

Do you think they will come back? How long have they been furloughed?

Some will come back, some won't. The company sent conditional notices to all of the furloughees so that the class can be filled even if some bypass recall.

They've been furloughed for a while. Two to three years, maybe?

So what did they tell you guys? Are you moving right into the DC9 class in 2½ weeks or are they keeping you on the panel for now?

I am being told that if I do get the proffer (5 PFE's would have to go to miss me) we are going to start class the 4th. The proffer is going to be filled with recalls and they have to give them 21 days to come back, so, if they don't want to come back sooner they are going to have a class later also. I am being told that we are staying in SO class until the end of groundschool, no sim.

I have talked with some of the furloughees getting calls, many have bypassed, and in past talks with some of the more junior furloughs, they have moved on permanently. It wouldn't suprise me to see this get all the way to the bottom.

Also was told that there will be more DC-8 pilot positions to be filled due to the new charter, so they are filling the 9 to then later rob more people to fill the 8...more recalls????

All of the B767 and DC8 proffers filter down to the DC9 in one way or another and they've had a series of proffers over the past few months without replacing any of the DC9 F/Os. We're about 20 to 25 short on the DC9 F/O list, compared to where we've been over the last few years, so they certainly need to have some DC9 F/O classes before having any more 767 or DC8 classes.

Let us know when you hear more about the recalls or new classes.

The Northern Kentucky airport operation currently employs 2,000, said Michael Schmitt, director of hub development for DHL. Combining the operations will add only seven jet transports to the 99 currently flying out of Wilmington each night. DHL now has 50 flights from Northern Kentucky each night.

Does this mean that after cvg ops moves to iln there will only be seven more flights?

Unless ASTAR is running their airplanes around practically empty (which I doubt) they're going to need a lot more than seven more airplanes than what ABX has in ILN. Perhaps the ILN count only initially increases by eight while the other aircraft move to the regional hubs, shuttle flights, etc. that they've been talking about?

ILN has been running at near December weights with extra sections to some cities due to weights.

Come on, everybody, read the piece. This is all conjecture from politicians who are trying to justify to their constituents how they can give up the tax breaks. Amazing how easily a reporter from a paper can find out the future of our company and our managment keeps insisting they have no clue........

I really think there is going to be plenty to go around for everyone and then some. I had a conversation with a Fedex employee the other day and when he found out I work for DHL (sort of) he said that all they keep hearing was how DHL was going to grow. No mention of UPS, just DHL. It's gonna happen, give it time.

The new charter is for Emery, it is a good deal.
