Just curious....

"Patiently" waiting for the phone call.

I just wish they'd tell us one way or the other so we can make some plans with our lives!

As soon as anyone hears any numbers, please post.

Cheers!

Purple is a fruit!

Based on past observations and experience they will call back 10% of the flight attendant call back. If they are calling back 1400 F/A's then you will see about 140 pilot call backs. If you have some early retirements, which UA always has a lot of, you may have more. Dust off that flight case it sounds like you may be going back soon.

Things aren't always as they appear

UAL is far far away from calling back pilots regardless of the FA call back numbers. The cuts in FA staffing were more severe than the pilot group because of not having qualified people to fill the seat after you furloughed pilots in that fleet. While the recall of FAs is a good sign, the numbers haven't quite been accurate. The company has at times announced a recall when the same number of FAs are leaving on voluntary leaves of abscence.

Humble

Are we going to have to wait until the 15th for notification? I thought the delay of furlough that ALPA worked out in Nov 2001 included allowing UAL to give only 15 days notice rather than 30?

UAL did give the 3/1 furloughees 30 days notice, though.

Hangin' in there with ya. (Barely.)

MEC UPDATE
Wednesday, February 27, 2002

* System Schedule Committee (SSC) Chairman Captain Jeff Nooger reports that at the SSC meeting this week the company verified that it is still evaluating and adjusting manpower needs for this summer. To meet projected block hours and line levels the company announced yesterday 20 B-777 Captain, 51 A-320 Captain and 90 B-737-300 Captain vacancy bids. Grandfather rights for these bids apply to all pilots surplused from those positions on surpluses with effective dates of October 31, 2001 and later. These vacancy bids close March 8, 2002.

The company also announced its plan for another First Officer surplus to be posted on March 5, 2002. This surplus will close March 25, 2002 and will have an effective date of June 1, 2002. Specific information will be available next week in the “Members Only” section of the UAL-MEC web site at www.alpa.org.

At this time there are no plans to furlough additional pilots in April. The company stated it is still evaluating the need to furlough additional pilots past the 253 brothers and sisters who will be furloughed March 2.

* Assessment billing for the UAL-ALPA Furlough Fund will be mailed this week. The assessment will be .75 percent of your monthly gross pay. We are currently in the process of working with United to provide an automatic check off program, for your convenience. In the meantime, please pay your assessment promptly so that we may assist with the health concerns of those pilots on furlough.

* The Associated Press reported that United resumed mediated negotiations yesterday with the International Association of Machinists (IAM) 141—the IAM district representing 23,000 United ramp and stores, public contact, food services and security officers.

After meeting jointly with federal mediators, the two sides are expected to begin the latest round of full negotiations today and continue them through the week.

IAM 141-M—the IAM district representing 15,000 United mechanics and related employees—will vote next Tuesday, March 5 on whether to ratify a tentative contract.

United currently has 591 of our brother and sister pilots on furlough with an additional 253 pilots scheduled to be furloughed in March 2002."

This is outrageous!!! Just because those 253 pilots won't have jobs in March, doesn't give them the right to come into my group of 591 pilots and at the top no less. What arrogance, we've been out since October, they can come in on the bottom and like it!!:) :) :) :) :)

P.S. In case the smiles didn't convey it, I'm completely kidding. Glad to see that there aren't any furloughs for April, and hopefully we can get things turned around and start the long road to recall.
