What is the word?

The word is AQ will start with more destinations and A/C, but 24 are still out. HA is getting 4 more 767-300's, but had 98 out. Will be awhile. Once AQ starts I'll post it hear. ;)

AQ getting planes already?

1st 767 is supposed to be on property in June. (depends on overhaul schedule?). I would thinkk that there would be recall notices going out in the next few months time. Apr/May?

Actually, I don't think that SNA slot is gonna be taken by a new aircraft. I think you're gonna see SMF become a three day trip. OGG-SMF-SNA overnight X 2 and then SNA-SMF-OGG. Now that is what I call EXPANSION!

Good stuff. Glad to hear things are going in the right direction.

They're only going to do what you're talking about because they have to use that slot before a plane can be found. I'm still trying to figure out how that trip will be flown. Wasted ground time for crews.

Actually X, I was pointing out that they DONT need to pick up another airplane to fill that slot in Orange. They can do so by simply adjusting the Sacramento trip as I pointed out.

I must admit though, I do believe that we will be getting some more aircraft soon. We just have to....

LS told a flight crew 2 757's guaranteed by end of Summer, but the day before he was asked in a Hangar Hui if any new aircraft and he said none planned so far.

I spoke with an instructor today who stated 700's are very hard to find right now. The 800 will be easier. I would think to get 75's by the end of summer they would need to start some kind of training program. Anything LS says I just can't believe, although I would like him to prove me wrong! The operation needs to be moved to SNA or OAK to run efficiently, this includes Dispatch.

-800's would be the way to go, I hear 757's are hard to get as well. Best of luck.

What?? No 787's?!? :D

With the proposed expansion including "flights from the west coast inland," it would make total sense to base crew, etc. somewhere on the mainland. Probably SNA, because thats where all the attention seems to be.

Word at HA was that in order to take on another a/c type, a minimum of 5 to 7 was essential. otherwise, it just didn't make any sense $ wise. so getting 2 seems pretty far-fetched.

That may be true, but you have to start somewhere don't you. Two initially with more to come later. Okay, a little dreaming but the 800 isin't the answer either. The ATA guys say they just barely make it. The 700 seems to be the perfect plane for the west coast. Points further east need more legs like the 75.
Well, at least our costs are way down now, no thanks to the Pilots! We should be able to start some new ventures soon, standby.....;)

until you take into account the competence level of our management. ;)

It's a function of parts, etc. We've been looking at and debating this issue for 4+ years, first with entertaining 757's, then with the exhaustive search for 767's. It's not a new issue on the HA side of the house. It might even drive your operating costs as high as Mesa's CASM;)

America West/US Airways are using the 757's out of PHX. They are weight restricted because of stringent ETOPS fuel requirements/winter headwinds.
They have gotten some bad publicity in PHX because of numerous complaints about pax luggage not making the flights.
For a short while they were asking us to carry thier bags for them.

GO RAIDERS!!

PS I'm hearing 25 initial recalls soon.

Kool Deal! Glad to hear guys getting off the street.

What about the rumor I heard today about 3 of the -300ER's being returned for no net growth? True or not?

Anyone?

Bueller?

Bueller?

HAL

DOWNEY looks at DAWSON.

DOWNEY
Hal?

ROSS
Don't look at him.

DOWNEY
Hal?

DAWSON
Private. Answer the Lieutenant's question.

The room is still silent. DOWNEY does something we've never
seen him do before. He straightens himself up and says this
with the pride of a man who believes he's done the right
thing.

DOWNEY
Yes, Lieutenant. I was given an order by
my squad leader, Lance Corporal Harold W.
Dawson of the U.S. Marine Corps. And I
followed it.

Entirely false, never even considered, don't know starts those kind of rumors, we need these airplanes.
Did hear 25 recalls going out this month for increase in summer flying. Not the end of the recalls either.

HAL,
I know they wanted to drop the LTU birds as soon as they could find replacements, but the maket is tight right now for 767's (good ones).
They are going to have to send out letters soon if they want to fly that 1st 767 this summer. The seasonal SAN-OGG is going to be year around now (as of June 11th) with additional OGG and HNL flying.

Downey was talking to a Captain, not a Lieutenant. [Played by Kevin Bacon]
