I remember flying LAS to BWI a few years back, it wasn't nearly as bad as they say it was. But the terminal is awfully uncomfortable, and smoke filled. They do have a static high wing in the main concourse though, to commemorate some sort of a record to offset all the slots.
It's an attempt at satire, but it's mostly BS. Too full of generalizations and assumptions to make much sense. There's no way you can take city pairs like that and say that all flights on those routes are like he described ALL of the time, or even most of the time. It fails because there is just too much flight-to-flight variation in the shaky foundation on which he tries to build. I think he was really stretching for something to write about.
Well I have flown in back of the ORD-MCO route so many times it's not funny, though there is an unusually high number of families on the flight it's nothing like he described. Another idiot that wants to degrade flying.
This guy's an idiot. It's appropriate that his column is called "Power Trip".
While I'll agree with him that flights to Florida tend to have too many screaming kids with indifferent parents, and Vegas flights have a lot of freaks, it's impossible to say all BALTIMORE-Vegas flights suck. Baltimore has nothing to do with it. I've been on flights from a lot of cities to Vegas that sucked. It's just the Vegas crowd. Same for Orlando.
I haven't seen that senior flight attendants avoid these flights either. I actually see a lot of senior FAs on Vegas flights because quite a few of them live there. You see junior FAs on MCO flights because several airlines have a junior domicile in Orlando. I wouldn't expect Mr Power Trip to understand this.
Only a moron would use IAD and EWR to go from Washington to NYC. Either go DCA-LGA or take the train. Duh! Why do you think it takes half a day?
I also find it funny to hear him lambast the business commuters from LA to SFO. I bet you he's right there with them bitching that he has to get on some little commuter jet with no first class section.
