Any info on Tradewinds

Looks like there are 6 people in my class. One week in GSO and the rest in DEN. Is that normal? I though most of G.S. was done in GSO. What have the trainig expeince been like at the United training center...never been there but have used the Sheraton across the street a bunch.
I am expecting the typical 2-3 weeks of systems and about 2 weeks to do the sim. Am I in the ball park?
I am assuming that I will be able to hold MIA off the bat.
I thought the $10 over-ride was for all intl' ops..not just Asia.
I am in need of a new ear-piece. Will the same one from the 727 work in the 747?

Yeah MIA is the junior base.

The Asia over ride is for the Bus...747 gets it for all ops.

Training is ddifferent for every class as far as location, sometimes systems are taught in MIA, GSO or DEN.

Yes, ya are in the ballpark, but sometimes training can drag out 'cause of long waits between g/s and sim, sim and IOE, etc.

Well, Aeroservices in MIA ain't all that depressing...They got the easiest courses and the most laid back instructors in the industry....They cater to South American pilot training, can't be too tough on them guys, otherwise ya loose good paying customers....$$$$$.

Same as the Pan Am flight academy...Trained there too, lousy equipment and Spanish spoken in the offoces...But easy training...

Now we do, when they started the B-747 program last year the ground and sim instructors were contract people.

One of the guys from my new hire class is going to be a 747 instructor. He is a really sharp guy with good 747 international experience. He has already been instructing in the DC-10 too. From what I saw of him in indoc I'd bet he's going to do a great job.

I thought about being an instructor and check airman too, but decided not to.

Way too lazy, but with 14 years on the whale I could probably teach something.

Maybe later...They changed the deal, the first few check airmen on the 747 got a pretty sweet gig but not anymore.

Any idea how long it take to go from SO to FO on the 300 for a newhire? How low time were the guys hired as SO over the last year or so?
Also, is anything coming about the ANC base rumor? Any info would be appreciated.
