Would be nice, but I realllly don't think that ASA will bid low enough to get them. We are not the bottom feeders...

ASA ALPA has a long standing track record of not bidding on phantom airplanes.

......sure if I can keep my 100K+ pay, 18 days off, and choice of schedules..... Can I do that? Oh and how about furlough protection too.....

Amen, Joe. While you and I don't agree often, the career "progression" to a mainline carrier isn't for everyone. Some of us are happy where we are.

Before 9/11 when you were only expected to spend a few years at a "commuter" it was one thing, but once you have a lot of years invested, it's hard to justify starting over. Especially with a economic down turn in sight.

What a loser. Hey look mom, a regional lifer!

So being a "regional lifer" makes you a loser? Which mainline do you fly for? Oh wait, you don't!

Maybe you should wait until you get hired at one before you cast stones? I'd sure hate to see economic, financial, medical, or family issues make YOU into a "loser" one day.

Not everyone shares your ideal of career progression. Some of us are perfectly happy where we are.

Does enjoying a paycheck that meets all of my needs and having the seniority to spend as much time as I want with my family make me a loser? Don't think so.

There are more important things in life than your career.

Watch what you say, I have nothing but respect for the guys who have made the choice to stay at the regionals and try and make them better. Everyones initial goal is to get to the majors but when something like september 11th happens and all of a sudden there are massive furloughs and airlines dont hire for almost 10 years, you build up a good schedule and qol, you also may have a family and if you are over the age of 40, you may never get that good seniority back. I see no problem in staying if you want. A lot of people, especially the younger punks getting hired today, seem to forget that 9/11 even happened and they think they are going to be 747 captains in 10 years. Well lets hope nothing happens again becuase if it does, get real used to that regional fo seat.

Well said.

An ATR-72 is a lot of things, but it's not technically advanced...

Well, I didn't include the 12 out of 139 aircraft, which, by the way, are going away beginning in June (2 per month until December). Excuse me for my oversight. Will you forgive me?

I don't fly the ATR anyway, so my aircraft is technically advanced.

You're clearly not an ATR pilot.

While it's definitely not as advanced as the Canadian Space Shuttle, it's pretty far ahead of most commuter turboprops in its automation level. Having been designed in the late 80s it was way ahead of its time.

She has never let me down. I will miss it as one of the best airplanes I've ever flown. And that repertoire includes a CRJ-200.

Canadian Space Shuttle...ahahaha. I love it. One thing it is certainly not, is a rocket ship. :) I wasn't bad mouthing the ATR. I love to jumpseat on it. Of course, I would be lost as soon as it leaves the runway, but that's just because the good ole RJ has ruined my navigation skills. :)

We had 900s that were coming here..... they were diverted to Skywest......
Sounds like you need better scope protection.....

You can always sue to get it joey! Then tag along a $100,000,000 lawsuit for, ehem, "punitive damages."
You are so pathetic!

See, there's even losers at mainline. It's not a phenomenon restricted to the regionals.

Um, news flash, 737, ALPA settled the RJDC lawsuit. 2001 called, they want their headline back.

I've been told by some 'higher ups' that there are none available to get for 18-24 mos. Take it FWIW.
Don't forget that BH in his initial Q & A said we are not getting any additional aircraft, you know.....we need to work on our operation. (Isn't our operation really Delta's operation? You know, scheduling, facilites, ticketing, baggage, fuel catering, etc...All comes from Delta! What exactly should we work on?)

Anyway, looks like we're the odd man out for now on 900's.

Delta has told SkyWest Inc. to get the ASA operation straightened out, or else. If it was so simple, why didn't Delta do it when they owned ASA?

actually we are losers and life at the regionals (especially ASA) is hell. You're a loser if you don't want to be at a major with a double breasted jacket asking stupid questions on the radio.

working at mainline Delta is THE HOLY GRAIL.;)

Maybe one day we can all grow up to be just like 737 and the General.

Maybe we could get some of that "iron clad" scope you guys have.....LOL.

I'm just not sure whats more pathetic; John trying to be reasonable with the likes of you or YOU.

hmmm....I'm leaning towards you.

...... I'm waiting for 737Pylt to ask "How long's the thread"......

A lot of these kids weren't even driving a CAR when 9/11 happened.

And again.....I'll ask it. What exactly is ASA's operation? We maintain, and fly the planes. As far as I know, the pilots and FA's show up at the planes on time. It is all the crap that DELTA is responsible for that consistently goes awry! I show up at the plane, and it is not catered or fueled, or I cannot get my release. When the baggage is late or lost altogether, again ----- DELTA! When I get to ATL 15 min early, but wait 30 minutes for my gate to open up, Delta again for lack of space and tight schedules. What can ASA do to overcome Delta's operation screwups? They need to straighten themselves out and quit blaming ASA.
