Any Cactus folks remember the Joe C issue?

We've got a similar thing in progress at my airline where a manager who flew for some commuter back in the day (maybe 10-15 years ago) decided that he was going to annoint himself as a Captain waaaaay out of seniority. Our contract speaks pretty clearly on the issue but like so many other things, that and five bucks will get you a cup of coffee.

As I recall, when this was tried at AW the pilot group shut it down, hard. I'd be grateful for any information that anyone might be willing to share on how the whole thing went down there. This has been grieved and will eventually go to arbitration. If we can document the precedent set at AW it will go a long ways toward putting an end to this practice once and for all.

If it's all the same to you I think I'll proceed on the assumption that the person (s) who have the information I'm looking for share my unwillingness to grant ALPA sacred cow status. Are you familiar with the concept of the loyal opposition?
