For me the best solution in the 737 is the Bose X with a "rubberband" fix. If the Capt. isn't up for using the rubberband and I have to have the earcup half off the left ear then I would rather use my molded earpiece that I also carry w/ me.
But when using the X the cockpit is as quiet as I would ever want it. Great piece of equipment. However - on long flights the Bose X can start to give a little "head clamp" much like the old David Clarks did. And don't forget the "bad hair day" factor. LOL. The QC2 w/ UFM feels much lighter and I would imagine more comfortable on long flights.
The best fix of all would be Boeing to fix their junks intercom system.
