Just saw this bit of news - it is a huge order if it comes to fruition. Probably won't completely given its size. I realize VistaJet is not a fractional, but the competition could impact the jetcard business at Netjets/NJE and potentially Flexjet (still flies to Europe I believe in the Challengers). VistaJet is trying to compete on the high-end of charter/jet card business in places that Netjets/Netjets Europe wants to compete - especially Russia and China.

Ordering the same types of planes as Netjets (Globals) might make it more difficult to differentiate products - pricing then becomes an issue. When you can't differentiate the product, price becomes the focus. Too bad Netjets didn't order the G650 to futher differentiate itself in the jetcard market as the fractional market contracts. :crying:

I actually spoke with one of VistaJet's Global crews a few weeks back at TEB. Very nice guys from Austria and the UK. They claimed pay was crap but they enjoyed the flying... Sounds like big competition for Netjets and other worldwide players if VistaJet can implement their plans (difficult to do).

VistaJet makes history with largest Bombardier business jet order for up to 142 Global jets - 11 hours ago

Swiss luxury business aircraft operator VistaJet has placed the largest Bombardier business jet order in history with a deal to acquire up to 142 Global twin jets. The $7.8 billion deal includes firm orders for 25 Global 5000s, 25 Global 6000s and six Global 8000s - currently in development - as well options for 40 Global 5000s, 40 Global 6000s and six Global 8000s. Deliveries are set to begin in 2014.

"By any standard, this is an historic order for Bombardier," says Steve Ridolfi, president, Bombardier Business Aircraft. "It goes without saying that we are thrilled VistaJet has again chosen to grow their fleet with the industry-leading Global family," Ridolfi adds.

For VistaJet, the order signifies a key part of its expansion plans and ambitions to make business aviation more accessible to the emerging markets. Thomas Flohr, founder and chairman, VistaJet explains: "This order is the most significant milestone for VistaJet and is a testimony to our successful strategy that focuses on global coverage. Our customers need to fly point-to-point across the globe, and in many instances at short notice. Whether it's a direct flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai, from London to Luanda or from Kinshasa to Ulan Bator, we are seamlessly connecting our customers to every corner of the world."

With all of the failing airlines in Europe they will have no problem finding capable pilots. Those are some NICE airplanes!

Yet another with shiny jet syndrome. Johnson will fly anything for peanuts as long as it's "cool looking." :puke:

There's the generals 'lil buddy.....

Vista Jet orders 50 Global Express, they're an European company but most of those Globals are destined for the Mid East and Asia. Few of those birds are for their European division

Read an article of aviation-international news, Their CEO has been talking about China and the Middle East for a while

Honestly, the biggest threat to the fractional industry are these highly funded charter companies. Just like XO now, these places have tons of cash from investors and they can make huge orders like NJ and get discounted prices. Then they turn around and charter their jets out at huge discounts over what you would pay for hourly card service at a fractional. The client gets to fly in a shiny new plane, at a discount price, and doesn't have to worry about depreciation of an asset. And since the organization has so many planes they can even compete with large fractionals with quick availability and recovery time.

thats very possible. But they dont offer the same exceptional service by netjet superior pilots.

Most wealthy people care for their safety and will pay accordingly.

LMFAO!!! You should be CEO! Just keep telling yourself how good you are and everything will work out fine. Has your head always been up and locked, or is that just part of senility?

Hey X-Rated,

I think you mentioned previously that you operate out of the Middle East. Do you see much of VistaJet and their Globals there? Are they becoming more of a presence?

Yeah, I see them fairly often both in Dubai and in Europe. I went on one of their Global 6000's and was chatting with the crew about the new avionics. The vision cockpit is pretty sweet. The one thing they complained about was the flight director no longer having an option for V-bars or Crossbars. The new system only displays flight path vector with the circle and donut similar to what is depicted on the HUD. Their crews go back and forth between the XRS and 6000, and they miss the V-bars when they fly the 6000. Otherwise, the new system is very intuitive and provides unparalleled SA.

Is that true? That would drive me nuts! I like having the choice between SC or CP. On the G550 we have the HUD option as well on the PFD which I find silly as if I want the presentation I will just flip down the glass!

In the ground trainer I did use the HUD presentation so I could get used to it as the examiner checked us on HUD usage on our type ride.

Haven't seen a 6000 yet. What are the advertised numbers?

Cheers-

Rum

Rum,

The 6000 is just an XRS with new avionics. Actually, the name change was an after thought when they announced the clean sheet 7000 and 8000 to go along with the XRS and 5000. All of the 6000s that have been delivered so far were initially ordered and spec'ed as XRS's with vision avionics. However, Bombardier is now advertising the range at a more reasonable 6000 nm instead of the 6150 they used to claim with the XRS. It's exactly the same airplane other than the avionics though. Just a name change that just so happens to fit the range profile and coincide with the implementation of the new avionics package.

I think most pilots would agree with you. Give us the option to choose what we like best. However, I believe they wanted standardized symbology on the HUD and PFD.
