I think is pretty difficult for ALPA to defend someone who had been tagged stealing company property and then selling said property in a very public setting.

If he is on probation there is nothing ALPA can do for him. They won't be able to help him get his job back.

Maybe they will put him in the same cell as the guy who smashed up the car in GRR.

You should try to get all the facts about something before you let everyone know how stupid you are by opening your mouth. I flew with the GRR FO after that and he took responsibility for his actions and has taken the steps to make ammends.

You can pull your foot out of your mouth now.

ASA SOPs require their use, therefore they have to provide them. Not sure if it's in the ALPA contract that the company provide headsets also.

FARs require the use of a boom mike below 18K. I don't think that ASA HAS to provide them, as their SOP just reiterates the FARs. I never wore them because of the getting sick thing, but lots of guys do.

why is it the most senior cpts, who make the most money all seem to wear them?

Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You get the most money by being cheap. They (we) are planning on retiring in peace and start to do recreational drugs without fear of strikes, lockouts, ramp checks, road shows, piss tests................

Don't you have a cabin to clean or some bags to load?

You gave up any right to ask questions such as this when you defected to the land of clean airplanes and snotty rich passengers.

It was a statement, not a question.. duh....

ok, back to polishing the hubcaps,.....

The same reason they defend the drunks, the delinquents and the piss poor pilots that can't fly....so when YOU ask "what am I getting for my 2%" they can say "look what we did for these folks":D

News flash: ALPA is required by the RLA to defend any pilot who requests it. It's called "duty of fair representation".

The penalty for not mounting a full defense are the union and the individual rep can be sued for damages. When requested, they have no choice.

My understanding in this case, however, was that the pilot in question was probationary, and he "voluntarily" resigned. Federal mail fraud charges are pending.

That's why I was wondering how they caught him. My name is probably on at least 3-4 aircraft logs that were missing headsets this month alone.

ASA bought the headsets from him on ebay and compared the serial numbers. Doh!

FYI, "GRR Man" is flying the line at ASA. He seems to have learned his lesson.

Have you never made a mistake? Everybody deserves a second chance. Get a life.

Apples and oranges I would say.

GRR was a booze induced F-UP, which yes, I could see myself doing. Someone who would boost and fence headsets is capable of much worse.

An idiot is an idiot.

A thief is a thief is a thief.

What do you need headsets for in those fancy Barbie jets? Just do like the freight dogs do. Throw in some earplugs, blast the radio over the speaker at full volume and yell across the cockpit to your compadre. If you need to speak to atc, use the handmike.
huHHHHh?
FARs
read the regs

Don't get me wrong, I was defending "GRR man", not "headset stealing man".

I agree that the headset guy is an idiot. According to a CP he was selling them for $60 and sold about 20 of them. It seems to me that $1500 is a pretty small amout to go to the Federal pen on mail fraud charges for.

Theres nothing in the regs I fly under that dictate how I talk on the radio. I'm not spoon fed like the rest of you 121 guys.
Thats because, nobody cares if you hit a mountain, 'cept maybe your family.
Regs are written in blood, not alot of blood in a Navajo filled with boxes, not quite the same as a 777 filled with people. Miss the radio call for the turn inbound, splat, has happened time and time again. I was a freight dog for 3 years, buried a few friends. "spoon fed", not really, just legislated, providing some distance from the clown factor(you). Now head back to the airport and polish that little piper you buzz(annoy) around in.

Ohh wow, a clown huh? If being a real pilot with some actual stick and rudder skills makes me a clown, then hardy frickin har. Just because you can program an FMS that doesnt make you a pilot.

Why would you need a radio call for a turn inbound? You flying PAR approaches in the mountains at night? Get off your high horse regional boy. As a frmr freight dog you should know better than to try and bash us.

Dude, most of us started there....so STFU about all of the "Experience" you have! Don't come on here and make a snide remark regarding the job you "WISH" you had! Like PBR said...go back to your little Nambojahambo!

What about all of the money numbnts BL, SH and CT have cost this pilot group? I think that it is hilarious he was selling the headsets...stupid....but hilarious. Hell, we all know how much money this company THROWS AWAY with stupid decisions that are made around here...our mgmnt should be do'in Federal time!

Clown ,
Yup, ask the senior guys at Ameriflight about "Dan", doing a flight/checkride on xmas eve in OAK area, Bay forgot about him and, the rest is a history. "High horse", not even close, I do everything possible to stay out of my plane and away from the airport, this aint flyin' this is a crappy pay check, nothing more, mostly less. PAR, get real, if you will check your regs, just about everything west of the mississippi is "mountainous". Radar vectors, and the arsewipe controller who drops his skittles and you too can hit the mountain/tower/whatever too, if you aren't awake. If you are a freight dog, and have been doing it for awhile, you haven't been awake since you started the job. "Try and bash", you been smacked, when you made the mistake of taking your first flying lesson, the rest has/will be nothing more than repeated kicks to the nutz, till you quit.
Get some!
PBR
Programming the FMS is the junior guys job, and that makes me the supervisor of a programmer, not a pilot. You make the common mistake of thinking that we are hired to fly planes, not true you are hired to move boxes or people and just use a plane to do it. Subtle but significant distinction, you think you would have a job if the company could figger how to move those boxes without you flying the plane?
