TOKYO (AP) -- Japan's two biggest airlines grounded all their Boeing 787 aircraft for safety checks Wednesday after one was forced to make an emergency landing in the latest blow for the new jet.
Battery manufacturer saying it could take months to figure out.

I would think/hope UAL mgt is insisting on a deal from Boeing on replacement airplane for the meantime... 748?

Maybe they should be asking for a replacement aircraft from the battery manufacturer.

Not sure if the battery manufacturer has and immediate and sure fix for these batteries or not? Sounds like no. But I'm pretty sure a 748 or 777-300 would be and instant fix.

Get in line behind 25 others. Doubt BA will just give you a 777 loaner.

Not sure how this will go since the more well run Continental got taken over by jeff and he chose the more-than-likely-ill-fated merge with United route, but the old Continental would have gotten taken care of by Boeing. Or we would have threatened to look at Airbus. So, this 787 better be a quick fix because even jeff isn't just going to go lick the cat's butt. Somebody will build us a working airplane asap. Shoot, bring on the A380.

Yuasa is the battery manufacturer. They are an excellent battery manufacturer, possibly one of the best in the world. I am sure they will get to the bottom of it. Who knows what is causing it. Did Boeing spec the battery wrong? Did they spec the battery one way and then install it in a way that wouldnt work with how they spec'd it? Was it spec'd for a certain way to charge it, but it is being charged completely differently?

There are a ton of other questions to be asked.

Boeing is VERY particular in how they ask for something to be built. I have a family member that works for a very large foundry that makes certain forgings for Boeing for the 787. He says the specs they give them are super exact and they build to those specs even though their metal engineers say they would spec the part differently and it would be better.

I'm betting on the Mexican circuit boards or wiring to the battery. The Logan fire was caused by the wiring. That's what Smisek said, so it's true.

Could this be? Somebody applying logic on FI???? Nah! That cannot be, it has to be that Boeing, as well as NASA, utilize their products because they are cheap outsource
