That is the new rumor. How many pilots/airplanes does it take to run that operation?

Is AMR preparing to recall to staff?

AMR doesn't need it, with the aquisition they aquired enough slots and gates to start and run their own Shuttle.

Actually they already run it.. In AMR's infinite wisdom they do it with those pathetically uncomfortable RJs.

Jeez, lotta sevens in there. Is it always like that?

nj,

Not sure, I just picked the date i was going flyhing next.

If you had a choice would you fly on a 737,A319, or ERJ?

Pretty easy choice in my book. Putting your bags in the overhead, or waiting in the rain for your "carry on" in the back of the jet.

Uh, 737.

Airbus ride sucks in chop (from a soon to be Airbus Captain)

ERJ, better than a CRJ.

enigma

I doubt very seriously if that's true, although I'm sure Mr. Arpey would be interested in it should it come up for sale. I can't see the "new U" selling the only thing that making them money right now . . . expecially since they've got some more cash to burn. I would expect the shuttle to be sold only under extreme duress, which means Chapter 7.

Recalls, I doubt that too, although the latest round of furloughes was about the dumbest thing that AA has done since buying TWA assets.

I thought the USAir Shuttle was merged into USAir proper several years ago. Are y'all just talking about airport slots?

yeah AA must suck to do it in an ERJ....

of course the Captains of those a/c, most likely an AA/TWA flowback, must REALLY think it sucks!

keep picking up the OT so they can REMAIN at eagle and flying the "shuttle".

Because it is uncomfortable for the passengers you A$$.. Keep flying your RJ at peanuts so mainline can keep shrinking.

Tell you what, how about you run over to Go Jets and get a quick upgrade..

Nimrod...

AMRon does not have the cash to buy more efficient 737 to replace their Super 80s fleet let alone acquire another part of an airline. Not going to happen.
It seems that all those uncomfy RJs are allowing AMRon to still fund pension funds which are vanishing mighty quickly these days. You should love to see those airplanes depart AAflyer.

Uhhmmm. Why do I get the feeling that you flew the regional equipment of your day (BE-1900, SF340) for peanuts? This doesn't look like a gernade you should be throwing.

The shuttle was to be purchased by AA if UAL and US merged

Actually, AMR was going to get the shuttle if UAL and US merged and part of the USAir operation in DCA was to be made a seperate entity with the CEO of the BET Network at the help, if you recall.

Where did AA acquire those slots and gates?

Eagle lost money, take a look at the SEC filings, even a 3rd grader can read it. To summarize my paycut is subsidizing the fleet of RJs.

As for working for peanuts in my day, pretty sad I made the same amount on the SF-340 about 10 years ago the RJ fos make today.

Douchebag.

Ummm ya... and your mainline is profitable too. Hey If it was not for Eagle bringing down the company AMR would be profitable. Check your 3rd quarter reports. The entire company is losing money.
As far as your pay cut goes I am sorry. I hate to see any pilot take a pay cut. I do believe compensation must match revenues. The model was broken. The problem with the company now is they pass the savings onto the customer and hand the loss to the employees. Your paycut is not going to finance the rjs. Look at the financing of the purchases. My 2nd grader is reading it to me right now.
Sorry about the name-calling as well. that was rather childish of myself to throw that out.
Good luck, fly safe, and I hope this thing gets turned around.

Thanks,

I didn't mean to throw that crap back at you. Yes I do hope it turns around, it would be great to recall, and hire. I know the company is losing money, although i was encouraged by the 1st quarter.

It just has gotten a little old hearing how Eagle is profitable, when the numbers don't support it. I am not bashing eagle guys either, I was one.

Fly Safe as well,

AA

I don't think that's correct.

Robert Johnson was going to run DCAir as a stand alone airline - own operating certificate, etc/. DCAir was an attempt to dump unwanted [overlapping] capcity and [hope] to avoid anti-trust issues.

The Pan-Am/Trump/USAir shuttle is a high-worth asset that UAL wanted badly in the attempted merger. They panned to use the route authority - not sell or give it away. It's still worth a bunch today.
