AMF pilots have jumpseat privileges with several passenger airlines and cargo airlines. The pilots of the other airlines often do jump AMF. For example, some of the SWA pilots flying out of OAK live in Los Angeles. If they fly one of the last flights into OAK, they don't have another SWA flight to jump down to BUR, so they come over to AMF. One or two of their pilots comes over almost every night. Our schedule is the most convenient for them. Also, some of the airline pilots live in smaller towns that don't have airline service, and they jump us. I have had many SWA pilots jump with me, and they are very appreciative. AMF offers destinations and times that other airlines don't.
BTL, what is the chip on your shoulder? We have AMF pilots jump to Europe on UPS, Hawaii on Aloha, all over on airlines like SWA and Horizon. Between jumping on AMF to the many places we go, and the airlines we have jumpseat priveleges with, I have been able to jump everywhere I have wanted to go. . It is not as good as what you get flying for pax airlines, there are no buddy passes, family travel benefits, etc. If that is real important to you, then that should help guide your career choices. The new VP of Flight is simply supporting his pilots by inquiring about more jumpseat privileges. Nothing to get worked up about.
