I saw that the ameriflight page is showing immediate hirings for PDX. Anyone have any word about the operations up there, upgrade time? And how they like it.

I was origionally going to be applying for the Phoenix job but I am thinking returning home to the northwest might be nice. I am currently at 1200TT and about 80 multi engine hours so I should be submitting the old application soon.

Thanks
Eric

just do away with the private pm's and give everyone a shoe in...

we all know PDX needs it! :)

Ideas?

Hey guys, just got furloughed from Trans States, looking at my options. I live in Vegas right now and was commuting to STL. I'm at about 1150TT I don't know if they'd hire me with being short of the 1200. I've got about a week left so I'll get a little more flight time but I doubt I'm going to hit 1200. Any info would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your furlough...

A few things:

-Do you really want to fly cargo, or are you just looking at AMF as something to do until another regional hires you or you get recalled? If you really want to fly cargo, you can't go wrong with AMF, in my opinion. If you just want something to fill the time, AMF might not be a great choice. Training is not easy or short. Also, they ask for at least six months in the PA31- if you leave before then, you're not "eligible for rehire" (which every job application asks). In other words, going back on your word will definitely burn a bridge here.

-Are you willing to start in the PA31?

-There is no base in Vegas- are you willing to move? Likely PA31 bases for new-hires are BUR, OAK, and PDX. Unless of course you'd prefer one of the Texass outstations, which I'm sure could be arranged.

-Regarding your times, do you meet all of the other 135 IFR PIC requirements (500 airport-airport XC, 100 night, 75 instrument)? If so, you might have a shot, but the closer to 1200TT you have, the better. Obviously you can't fly the line with under 1200 hrs., so at best the difference could theoretically be made up during training in the airplane (aprox. 15-20 hrs. I think), if hired. It's been done, but not often, so I certainly wouldn't count on it.

If you really are interested, I'd say wait until you've got all of the hours you're going to get at your current job, then apply online. You might also call and ask for one of the recruiters to follow up and explain your situation.

Hope that helps... good luck.

The Texas outstation vacancies have been filled. Both pilots are about 3\4's the way through training right now.
