Not surprising given the cost of oil these days. Makes you wonder if Maxjet or EOS could have survived longer had AA not entered the Stansted market... Of course, at $130 oil, not many airlines can survive for long. See below:

American cuts service between JFK, London's Stansted Airport

FORT WORTH, Texas - American Airlines said Wednesday it plans to discontinue service between New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and London's Stansted Airport.

The decision, coming less than a year after the service was launched, will be effective July 2. It is part of the airline's recently announced plan to cut capacity in response to rising fuel prices and a faltering economy.

American, a unit of Fort Worth-based AMR Corp., said it will continue to offer its full schedule between JFK and London's Heathrow Airport. The airline said further reductions will be announced soon. American plans to cut domestic flight capacity by 11 percent to 12 percent in the fourth quarter, after the peak summer season is over.

Just like when AA went after Legend Air out of Dallas Luv. Competed head to head, then pulled out of the markets after Legend was gone.
