Does anyone know if there is dispatcher flowthru from Eagle to American mainline? Also, how does one become a dispatcher at American Airlines? Thanx!!

At least 10 years ago they had a suggestion that you have one of the following:

1. a bachelor's degree, or
2. an associate's degree and 2 years experience, or
3. no degree and 5 years experience

When I was an AA intern during the summer of 2001 there were about 8 new dispatch hires from various airlines including a couple from Eagle. After 9/11, all of them were shown the door without any recall rights. Back then, they said you needed two years experience at Eagle to be a dispatcher at the mainline. Some may know better, but the airline still has dispatchers on furlough. All of this doesn't sound like a flow through to me.

I know of at least 2 former TWA guys that were furloughed shortly after the move to DFW. They have been with another metroplexian charter carrier for 4 or 5 years now, but I'm not sure if they've had the opportunity at recall, or if they've bypassed it.
