When I spoke to Joshua, I was under the impression that I would have to take the aircraft to Texas. I guess the main thing with certifing your aircraft is that the FAA requires the engines have had to been rebuilt within the last 12 years. My partner in my 135 is an A&P mechanic and he handled that end of it.
As far as the process we used a retired FAA guy who now does consulting in part 135. He worked for the same FSDO that handles our 135 operation, so it was pretty painless.
The process of getting a certificate is very paper intensive, and our guy had it down to a science, but you still need to know your papere work forward and backwards.
