Alternative to the Caravan?

I've seen a few Cessna Caravan clones in various magazines and I even remember the failed load master.

So, is there any real alternative to the Van?

I am pretty sure they were built to be a jumpplane, with intentions of becoming a freighter. I know it is a hell of lot faster to climb to jumprun than the caravans I used to jump from.

Vulcanair, successor company to Partenavia was pursuing a caravan clone powered by a Walther engine. The advert releases had it looking identical to a C-208B.
Seems like the effort has stalled

They need to stick the mini PT6 in there of the Allison 250. Then it would be a great plane. I asked them when they are going turbine, they said in the next couple of year. I'll be in line to get one to put on Amphibs.

Meh, it was scary enough behind TWO 985's. One is just crazy talk!

I think the Twin Beech is the plane the 'van is
the alternative to. I'm sure goodgig was referring
to that. The 18 and the Otter were both fine
planes (just flew the Beech, myself), but give me
the Caravan any day. (no, I haven't flown it, I'm
extrapolating from my 206 experience). Time
marches on, engines don't, LoL.

the caravan compared to the 206 or 207 is a far better machine. Alot nicier to fly, the whole nine yards.
