What's the mission?

A lot depends on what you want to do with your Caravan alternate. If you need a real bushplane, then the Quest Air Kodiak is it.

I went to the Sandpoint ID factory in late 2005 for a demonstration to the public. The factory demo took off with about a 300ft ground roll at gross, if I recall, and then climbed like a raped ape.

Very interesting group of missionaries that conceived this bird. They also came up with a unique business plan, I think. I saw a press release last week that announced certification of their first production bird, which will be delived to the customer after Oshkosh.

Meh, it was scary enough behind TWO 985's. One is just crazy talk!
I think that you're thinking of the beaver which had one R985. I think the original Otter had one 1340, which is way less reliable.
