WASHINGTON, March 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pinnacle Airlines
pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int'l, (ALPA) won
big when an arbitrator ruled that Pinnacle Airlines, Inc. (PAI) and
Pinnacle Airlines Corp. (PNCL) violated the pilots' contractual rights when
management refused to meet and discuss labor protection issues with them
after PNCL bought Colgan Air in early 2007.

What does this ruling end up meaning for Pinnacle / Colgan pilots?

From what I understand, its very good for airline pilots everywhere. Its one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind in the game management has been playing with holding companies trying to get around scope.

For Pinnacle and Colgan pilots... my Pinnacle buddies are telling me that once the decision is put into place, the Q400s are going to be flown by pilots on the Pinnacle list, followed soon thereafter by some sort of fence agreement leading eventually to a combined list.

For now Pinnacle Holding is going to ignore the ruling and hopes it goes away. I guess this will be law suit number three for the PCL pilots in the past six months.

Hopefully it will mean the Colgan girls will get a taste of why they never should have voted down representation.

The BIG 3.
1.) The check is in the mail.
2.) I won't C**e in your m***th.
3.) PNCL management cares to do right.

My prediction is Pinnacle management will drag this out in court for 2 years.

I also think when the planes finally go to pinnacle they won't be able to staff them unless they lose a bunch of RJ flying due to capacity cuts.

When the seniority integration happens Colgan pilots will get royally hosed over. And the pinnacle boys will gloat in their righteousness.

Yeah, and after we re stapled PNCL ALPA will have installed a divided pilot group...that's a great way to get sh1t done!!!

Although the staple job might be worth it just to see those idiots who didn't vote for ALPA(east coast saab, save a few) faces when they have to start slingin gear for a 2 year PNCL CRJ Captain!

The worst part is that almost all of the pilots that voted no have either left for a union carrier (Republic), or have plans to...(Southwest, Airtran)

give me a break

first, why would Pinnicle pilots want to fly the Q

second, if they do try and staple all the Colgan Pilots will quit....Most of us have enough PIC to get a job anywhere

third, there will not be enough pilots to man all the planes unless pinnicle airlines looses all there RJ flying and has to fly Colgans prop flying....Colgan to the rescue

forth, we will be ALPA way before this comes to a settlement and surely colgan ALPA will not allow a staple most likely it will be date of hire with fences put up for the captains....Im sure this will be discused with ALPA National or Other Union Choices on our next union drive

Don't get me wrong I am glad you now have some leverge on the company for your negotiations on a new contract, God knows you need one. I am sure the company will not sign a new contract with you unless you conceed on this issue.

So.

One of two things will happen you can fight to merge the lists which might happen sometime in the next two years or you can fight to get paid more but I dont think you can do both.

Didn't you know- 9E management is above the law. There is no need for them to adhere to a contract, or an arbitrators ruling.

ya spell check might of been a good idea i just figure it would take too much time on my slow computer

Colgan is not going to get stapled.

There are many reasons why a Pinnacle pilot might want to bid the Q400 (domicile is one big one)

If the lists were merged, both groups (and every other pilot in the US) would benefit.

Turbo

Date of hire senority merger would be fine by me. I welcome our Colgan brothers into the ALPA fold.

Time to be unified and lay the smack down on the aviation industries...carpet bagging...middle men.

Wrong. Pinnacle pilots will demand that the Q be on our list or all colgan pilots on our list.

We don't have to conceed anything. Our existing contract and the arbitrators ruling already cover this issue. We may have to sue the company, but it will happen. We will not conceed anything.

As far as a new contract, we won't give away our job protections for any new contract. Forget that idea right now.

We will get a contract when the company can no longer function, or when the ontime performance suffers enough, or when we finally get released. It may take a few more years, but we will eventually get released.

But again, we will not give up our job protections for a new contract.

Precisely correct, Smarta$$.
Also, where does anyone get the idea that a "staple job" will be done. First, our contract spells out how an integration would occur, and, second, the a new law specifies that the rules that came out of Allegheny-Mohawk would apply.
I would welcome a chance to sit down with our brothers and sisters at Colgan and work out a FAIR integration that works for both groups. Then, a completely unified pilot group of 1900 pilots could take on Phildo, the fat mechanic, the bald ex-FedEx dupe and the Buddy Forker.
