Has anyone heard of this happening at other carriers?

Several of my fellow NK pilots (including a couple of union officers/volunteers) have received letters from ALPA informing them that ALPA didn't collect enough dues in past years. We all had our dues paid through payroll deduction, and it isn't the members fault that the dues were incorrectly figured. In fact, it is ALPA mistake, admittedly. Now, ALPA is threatening to put members in bad standing over as little as $50 from four years ago. What total BS!

They'd better get their stuff together, or someone's going to start a decert effort.

PS, sorry if this has already been discussed, if so, I missed it.

It happens sometimes when your MEC doesn't get your paperwork in on time and a dues cycle ,or two, are missed. Take it up with your MEC first.

ALPA is the borg. All will be assimilated into the collective. Resistance is futile.

Been ALPA, not gona do it again. I can just now start to walk right.:D

Get rid of Alpa. They haven't done anything for you...Follow Airtran and Southwest and get an in-house union.

I can't say too much because I don't want to give away personal info about my fellow pilots. But I will say that it isn't our MEC's fault and the MEC is not happy about the heavy handed approach that national has taken.

Decertification is being thought about, but I don't know if any of the real leaders are going to give it any effort.

I was reminded today, that of the primary reason that NK voted in ALPA to begin with was for merger protection. Because of this, I don't believe that any serious decert effort will ever be attempted.

It happened at ATA. I was billed for several hundred dollars in dues for 2000. I spoke with our MEC treasurer, and he stated that ALPA not only wanted the back dues, but interest too. I wasn't the only one that owed the back dues at ATA. Our MEC was able to get the interest request dropped, and I paid the dues without protest.

Ditto that, Spanky. One could always seek the council of the man in the upper left, pretty sure his boys are tight with ALPA.
