Hawaiian??? Sorry, there's 103 of us doing something else right now. No idea of when we'll get back. Things could change when all this bankrupcy stuff is finished but I'll believe it when I see it!!

I hope so too, Thanks for your encouraging words!! A lot of things are up in the air right now, what with the airline being sold to the highest bidder and all. There is no way of knowing who is going to own Hawaiian at the end of the summer and what plans, if any they're going to have for expansion. There's been a lot of talk from all the players about growth but we all know in this business that talk is cheap. Who knows, we could order 10 new planes and need to hire new pilots by this time next year, or they could keep us the same size and we'll be furloughed forever. Like I said before, I'll believe it when I see it.

None the less, things are going to be pretty interesting these next couple of months so stay tuned. In the mean time, please return to your seats and ensure your seat belts are securely fastened cause here we f*%$&n' go again!!

Good to see you post - I was beginning to wonder if it was you the TSA caught in Oakland!

Hansoma is right, we just don't know what is going on. There's supposed to be another vacancy bid out in the next day or two for four more spots. I don't know if it is for the last group of recallees that had a few bypass, or if they are short pilots for expanded summer flying, or what. It'll get real close to me, probably only a couple out if not actually getting me back on line. However like Hansoma said, I might still be sitting here a year from now too. Rumors are flying about increased interisland flying, and about more 767's, but until I get the notice in the mail, I won't be buying the suntan lotion. (Which, by the way, is needed! Do you know what a winter in Alaska does to a Hawaiian tan??? First time I step off the plane in HNL I'm likely to burst into flames!)

And I gotta get out of here. Spring hit interior Alaska with a vengence yesterday, and I think the entire state is one giant mud puddle now. Nice change though from a week and a half ago when it was -20F.

AQ started a class of 8 this week.
I have a buddy in the class, he said they told him another small class in May that is already picked and probably 2 more classes in the summer.

The last vacancy bid brought back 10 F/O's to cover the Australia flying. The flight required three pilots, but only flies four days a week, as opposed to the daily ONT trip that it replaces.

If bookings are high to Sydney, my guess is that they'll add more flights, and bring back a few more pilots.

Not until we get more planes. They had to stop the ONT flights so we could have a plane for the Sydney flights. Rumors are circulating that we're looking for more 767's, but until the deal is signed, we can't expand.
