I think the type rating thing is a tough question. Not to be confused with actual 737 operating experience. To me, the 737 type with no experience is a sign around one's neck saying "I am waiting for SWA", but I know of at least one person in a recent class who had just the type and no experience so it does happen. Is it a waste of money? I think so if Aloha is really your hands-down first choice airline and you have internal rec's. If you put SWA high on your list of preferred employers, then I think we all know the answer to the value of the type. Good luck
