I'll ignore for a moment that your hypocritical ad hominem attacks indicate that you have nothing of substance to say and give you a reality check.

It wasn't very long ago when first year pay at UPS was 28k. Aloha Air Cargo isn't necessarily where UPS was when they were paying that. Low first year pay is no surprise in aviation, especially for a 2nd or 3rd tier cargo outfit.

If you don't think that their first year pay is "ok", then you don't have to work there. Apparently, some people do and it is not up to you to decide if their pay is ok.

The pay is determined by the job market or a contract. Nobody owes you a living.

One day, when you grow up and when you gain more experience in this business, you might learn these certain facts of life.

Aloha Air Cargo's first year pay is twice the poverty line for a single person. As you can see, you're wrong and are just practicing in exaggerations and dramatics.

Yes I have been laid off, have worked at one place 15 years before it went out of business. I have been a contract pilot and instructor. Now I have accepted a job that pay's pretty well. I will NOT take entry level pay in a cockpit, My services are worth more than 288.50 a week. In fact right now it is back to 330.00 a day every day, work or not. I just had to find it, it took a while but those jobs are out there. Didn't have to sell the house, or cars, Didn't have to Buy my own Health insurance, and I didn't have to lower my self to those scum bag offers.


It is anybody's Choice to fly jet transport jets for 41.30 a day.

go ahead and enjoy this great career, it ain't ever going to get better with guys taking jobs like this.

Defensive of Aloha? Well, no. However, I AM defensive when it comes to common sense and hypocrisy.

If you read my post again and more carefully, you will see that I don't choose to live at that level, as you say. Someone that takes this job is worth $288.50 per week.

The point of my post is that first year pay at almost any airline, even the legacy carriers, leaves much to be desired. Why should Aloha be any different? The airline world is much different whatever contract work that you're doing.

I do agree with you that low paying jobs doesn't help the profession. However, it doesn't help us either to resort to name-calling and mindless stereotyping. To each their own....everyone's situation is different.

Like I said, it's easy for you to bash on other people's choices when you sit fat and happy at your job. then Major Airlines and Mech, then Overseas to Gain experience then back to Usa for another Major as Pilot. 15 years later they die. mean while I work as Contract Pilot in the Usa. then I found a good gig at Real Airline again.
Family suffered with all the Chaos but we stuck it out. Never had to succumb to the less than stellar wages.
Sorry you guys are willing to accept a less than steller wage.

Substandard wages are certainly bad for the profession, but toughing it out through a very lean first year is not unreasonable.

So tell us v2 what major did you fly for and what was first year pay?
I left a long-haul freight jobs for a major 2 years ago and only made 36k the first year. It was a severe pay cut. I dealt with it since second year pay nearly doubled that (all the raises coming up are significant) and my qol/retirement/schedule/lack of commute is much better.

Money's not everything. There is quality of life and having a little bit of pride when you finally do get back into your career field, no matter what the pay. This tool is just sitting fat, DUMB, and happy, judging every other person in the industry as if he knows there situation. As if there situation is the same as his. Not everybody is the same. Some people have to make sacrifices that other people don't understand, could never understand. Until they're in that position. Put the blinders back on and move to another thread.

I think many people forget that we are tradesmen. It's great to have the apprenticeship done (licenses in hand) but the other important factor is experience. Like every other trade we need to build our experience and it isn't easy. It involves a huge amount of sacrifice and it doesn't pay off right away. The dedicated will take their learned skills, build their experience and in a few years be in a position to ask to be compensated for what they are worth.
