Allegient Planes on the ramp

A friend just asked me if Allegient was still flying (I'm sure they are) because he taxiied out in Las Vegas and counted seven of their planes parked on the ramp (not at gates, on the ramp) in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday.

How big is Allegient? How can they afford to have seven planes sitting there not flying? Is something going on?

If it was a Tuesday, they don't do any flying on that day. From what I understand, they are a 6-day a week operation.

At SFB they have their second hub. They usually have several flights a day except on Monday or Tuesday, I forget. Their still in business and had an article in "Airways" or "Airlners" recently and were talking about expansion.

Yes, we're still very much in business. As was said above, Tuesdays are no fly days for the scheduled side of the house. If other airlines didn't need to move airplanes around, they probably wouldn't fly very much on Tuesday's either. Tuesday's are lose money days in the airline industry.... at least for those of us making money on the other days.

Yeah.. It is.... Of course like everyone else we have our gripes, but in general most of us are pretty happy if not very happy to be here. We're also looking at some heavy growth over the next 2 years. Their saying "doubling" in size over 2-2.5 years. Strong and valid talk of an IPO in the near future too.

The CP told me recently a class should begin around early-mid fall. The SFB CP said he was hearing figures of appx 40 by years end. That's what I've been hearing...

What happened was an impending IPO. Our current owner wants the books to look sparkling clean with a nice profit for the last many quarters. By not having any classes this year so far and very little expansion, our books look great.

Once the IPO has come and gone, hiring and expansion will resume.

If you're serious about a Bellingham base, the answer is never.

All of our flights left within 15 minutes of schedule Saturday with no mention of a bomb scare.

Actually, TOL and LAN went out a few late because of the aformentioned "scare".

I was the FO on one of em. After all that LAS-TOL-SFB got in :01 early. It was pretty crazy. They pulled the planes to the MX ramp and a team of dogs sniffed around for a half hour. As it turns out, one of our male F/As was in a "lovers quarrel" with his sig. other, and the boyfriend called in the threat.

I get the feeling that dude might enjoy prison!
