I'm assuming you haven't flown the MD-80. It's a little more antiquated than your average regional jet and can bite you if you don't have much experience flying it. Allegiant allows green on green flying, brand new captains fly with brand new FO's. To go straight into a captain position on this airplane with no prior experience on the DC-9 type could be unsafe.

1000's have done it since about 1966.

All of you outside of Allegiant assume that things are the same here as your airline. They are not.

We don't fly to Omaha, we fly to Grand Island Nebraska.

Our planes had nine engine failures in six weeks this last spring. That's about one in six of our total fleet.

Dispatch releases must be assumed to be canned routes with at least one gotcha hidden somewhere.

We have turnover on ramp and gate personnel that would put a fast food restaurant to shame. Assuming they did their job right is waiting for a trip to explain yourself.

Our MD80s have several variations in our fleet. Different layouts and placement of important switches. Different FMS systems.

Add in several more details in the same manner and you'll see that a newhire upgrading to captain isn't the same as at Skywest or United.

Yep, some of why I left in a nutshell.

Allegiant pilots are the biggest whiners. Mr. Wu...if you don't work at AAY (I think you do) then why do you care? I've been here for 10 years and have noticed that we are our own worst enemies. Whining about no upgrades and now that we are everyone is complaining that a new hire was awarded a captain spot. No mention about seat locks in the airbus for a few FOs or that the rest may be holding out for the Bus. And no mention that we don't just hire low time 25 year old wonder boy RJ pilots but older and experienced guys who have time in type and various other heavy experience.
SO WHAT? No big deal, move on. Daytona flyer, get a FRICKIN life. You are on here non stop bashing the company you work for. You have a definate problem. Unhappy life? Wife leave you because you spend so much time on FI? Unbelievable.

Every time you post on here your seniority gets higher. You were hired on 9/28/2006, 578_, the second most junior guy left in your class.

And your point? Is this supposed to be some sort of intimidation?
My seniority has gone up since I last posted because I'm not obsessed with FI and bashing my bread and butter. I have a life to live and might post a few time in a year. If my view is different than yours then you need to find a way to cope. I can help find counseling if you don't already see someone.

I'm senior to him and I haven't been here 10 years.

Should I edit it to say "starting my 9th year" or "ALMOST 10 years"

My point is still valid and because Mr. Wu has issues with anyone disagreeing with him, he then "outed" me. Real classy my friends.

So my question is....why spend so much time posting negative crap? now that everyone knows who I am, I can admit that I like my job and although I have complaints, I can enjoy work and go home. When I'm home I forget about it all together and enjoy life. I live in PIE, if you want to post my personal address and phone number then go ahead.
Just because I chose not to use "almost 10 years" you had to lower yourself to this crap. I don't know who you are and personally I don't care.

I've never met you but remember your posts from the old AAPAG board. You seemed to like to always take the contrarian view to get people riled up. Maybe instead of calling all of us "whiners", consider that many of us are involved in the union and are attempting to make life for us (and you) better at this company. Maybe you should be thankful that everyone doesn't share your "I'm just so glad to have a job" attitude because if they did, you'd be making $61/hr slinging that Airbus around.
