Heard a rumor of a walk out. Any truth to that? Also heard the company has taken benefits away as they see fit..

The company always did that, but now with a union on board it is a little more difficult to change for the worse at their will!

Best of luck to the pilots! You deserve better!
Long overdue!

Judge issued an injunction. Sorry, but you can't strike without the NMB saying so.

Even though the judge stepped in, the schedule is going to be horrible. I can't imagine the write ups on a 30 year old MD-80 in the morning. Going to be very interesting.

Good luck guys.

Yes you can. RLA allows for a strike to restore status quo without NMB approval. Judge found company in violation on multiple counts. Today's injunction was issued without a hearing. It will be heard by Judge Gordon, he who issued the original judgement in favor of Teamsters, on April 10. No reason to believe he will not uphold his original ruling.

No, it doesn't. Stop listening to your IBT leadership and actually read the Act.

The judgment that he issued was ordering the company to restore the status quo. He never issued any order allowing you to strike. That was some nonsense that the IBT dreamed up on their own. If the company violates the judge's order to restore the status quo, then it's up to the judge to determine the remedy, which will probably be finding them in contempt and fining them. He isn't going to let you strike.

See "United Industrial Workers of Seafarers vs. Board of Trustees." Fifth Circuit found in favor of the union's right to self help under the RLA prior to exhaustion of all remedies. Something about the carrier itself not being compliant with the Act, blah blah, Status Quo, blah blah. Read it if you want or don't, however such an action is, in fact, supported by case law.

I've read it, and for many reasons it is not applicable. You're being lead by a bunch of knuckle-dragging morons at the IBT, and they're screwing you over. Because of them, you've infuriated the NMB, and now your chance of getting a real release anytime in the foreseeable future is nil. I wish you guys the best, but this is not the way to go about this.
