The East operations at USAIR no longer has anybody on furlough.The list is done. Pilots are being interviewed from the wholly owns. (PSA and Piedmont). Lots of movement. Many pilots are leaving on LTD instead of early retirement. Sick time is also being used up. Expect much movement on the East and stagnation in the West.

Why do you say stagnation on the west? There's movement on both sides.

Good to hear things are moving again. But East will definitely move faster than West, they're older over there.
 
Pretty easy to get through the list when most have been hired by other airlines that may have a better outlook. How many came back vs offered recall. How long are their recall rights good for?

If its just the E190 then thats no big news but if its group @ aircraft of better then the sh_t or get off the pots letters are coming...
 
I know for a fact that there have been many recalled to Grp 2. The latest indoc class for returning pilots I think it was 2 or 3 out of 15 or 16 went to the 190 everyone else was headed for the 737.

I believe about 2/3s came back. My entire class accepted the recall (not winning!). There are a few who have training contracts on file that can accept recall at a later date but the rest had to return or resign.
 
The east side will see a LOT of movement (old farts gone) when the age 65 hits. Hopefully before that.
 
Em ole farts will be gone before then. Remember the East has up to 1500 hours in the sick bank. That means that someome with a full bank can sick out this June and walk out the door in Dec. 2012 with no sick time in the bank (full pay for sick time) The company is only offering $13.50 for left over sick time.

Why would anyone in their cottin pickn mind take that deal. Use it up at full value and walk out the door with zero. Everbody is gonna use their sick time so the real rush for the door starts this summer.
 
East movement was going to happen regardless of the seniority arbitration. There are...maybe 5 West pilots willing to live in Philthy or the land of Billy Graham and the bible thumpers. It's all irrelevant really.

Everybody knows their place on the Nic. The only list that will ever be used outside of LOA 93.

The handful (10 or so) of pilots I know who were furloughed in 08/09 did not find other flying jobs. In fact some of them couldn't find employment regardless of career field due to the economy/jobs/unemployment (>10%).

I don't know, how about when the company has a reasonable suspicion that they aren't really sick and pays for them to go to a doctor that also says they aren't sick and then the company fires them and keeps the sick bank. I would think the sick-out thing would dry up pretty quickly.

But keep the good ideas coming!

That would never happen. Lawsuit central. Besides most 63 1/2 year old pilots already have a laundry list of medical issues which might suddenly need to be disclosed on their medical application. For the others, there's always:

Doctor... I feel dizzy sometimes.

Doctor... I see double.

Doctor... sometimes I feel like killing myself.

EAP Hotline? I'm an addict and I need help.

Lawsuit? It's in the contract they agreed to (wait that doesn't mean anything!). If those guys want to go down the path of EAP and psych/medical evaluations for the next year and a half just to rip off the company, they will probably regret getting involved in such fraud.

Remember, if the company does fire them after they disclose bogus medical info, how can USAPA get them reinstated?

Is Seham handing out medical advice now??

The lawsuits come when they try to get aggressive and end up going after someone with a legitimate medical issue. Juries would love to hear about how management tried to drag some 64 year old geriatric with a heart problem back into the cockpit to fly their love ones around.

Sure there's a process in the contract. So you go through the process, get your doctor's note and that's where it ends. *Your* doctor, BTW. End of story.

As for "ripping off the company"... I'd say they earned their sick time. Besides... you know what else is in the contract "the pilots agreed too"?? A pension.
