Mis-directed anger...

Sleepy,

Hopefully without igniting a new fire-fight...

Perhaps your ire should be directed toward United's hiring policy and not those lucky enough to have benefitted from it. The fact is, most that were hired at United since '98 have been furloughed by a once great airline that may never recover.

I know English and know of situations where she was discriminated against because she is a woman. (Have you ever had a chief pilot have to ask his wife if he can hire you?)

I was trying to point out that English is not someone that deserves to be flamed here.

I am dissappointed that I was flamed for pointing out what I thought was an injustice in your post. It seems it's more acceptable to flame a woman you don't know than to defend one you do.

That is a shame.

Most hired at UAL since 1998 are furloughed? Gosh , let me go grab some Kleenex before I start crying for them.

I don't even know where to start....I should've just stayed on the Majors board. First off....Lequip is just an a$$, plain and simple. Check out his posts in the "SWA in place in PHL" posts in the Majors section.

I worked at a commuter that had an unwritten preferential hiring at our mainline carrier. Since 9/11, we have had at least 10 - 15 WHITE MALES get hired there. I (white female) applied there multiple times and sent multiple updates and never got called. Another Indian female at our company applied there and has also not received a call. We were both captains and had competitive time and experience compared to the guys that left. My partner (white male) for initial (back in 1999) had 250 hours, upgraded with approx. 1600 and was hired by mainline into the 757 with 2500 total time! When I was applying, I had at least 1000 hours TT and PIC TP more than they had had and still no call. There was another white guy hired with 2500 TT as well. I am not complaining about this...I was happy for them. They were both nice guys. My point is is that this "females get hired before qualified guys" mentality is stupid.

Another thing I noticed is that any person that would complain about not getting a job never had applications out anywhere. I started applying EVERYWHERE when I hit 1500 hours. It took me 3.5 years to get a job. I am in a new hire class right now and guess what? All the other pilots are white guys. I don't know where this "females are taking our jobs" mentality is from either.

I just read a post recently and they guy said his father got hired at United with 600TT. Gee...how quick we forget about that stuff. If ONE female gets hired with less than "acceptable" experience....we never hear the end of it.

As far as flying with women pilots....I have flown with slow females AND males. There were guys AND gals at our commuter that couldn't make it through upgrade multiple times. I have had guys save my butt and I have saved guys butts in the cockpit.

To all you men that have sour attitudes toward flying with females, you should show your posts to your wives/girlfriends. I wonder how they would feel about you.

Capt. Megadeath,

"To all you men that have sour attitudes toward flying with females, you should show your posts to your wives/girlfriends. I wonder how they would feel about you."

You honestly think these guys have girlfriends or wives? My bet is the vast majority of them are 30-somethings living with their parents, bitter that some chick stole their chance at a major...but that's just my guess.

I love chick pilots. The aviation world would suck if it were entirely made up guys, especially whiny ones. And if there were no female pilots?.....well, those whiny guys would be whining about something else.

I have flown with several female pilots, had one as a superior, flown with female DE's, and seen several go on to fly for the regionals. All had the skills and time necessary or connections, the same stuff that the guys I have known have needed to advance on. I see no problem with flying with female pilots and I don't question their skill based off of gender. If I questions the abilities of anyone who flies, it is due to their words and actions which I personally have witnessed, and believe me, there are a lot of guys that do not deserve to be in the cockpit, much less females or minoritys.

We are probably seeing more females flying because more have become interested and realized they could do it, therefore more are applying. True, some are hired on preference, but again, some guys are hired for reasons unknown. Either way, it doesn't matter and if they truly are unable to maintain their skills, they should lose their job when they fail their checkride.

Of course the idea of an all female flight crew does bring up one question. What happens if one of them has to go to the bathroom? Does the other go to?
:D

Oh how he has made that painfully clear! His broad opinionated catagorizations like his first post are a perfect example.

They wouldn't dare or they'd never get any! Or maybe that's their real problem here...they aren't getting any, so they talk smack to make themselves feel superior. Get a life.

(Oh yeah, I met and exceeded the minimums when I got hired and there were guys in my class that got hired with less than 350TT, so don't go there about getting a job because Im a split tail.)

bu hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa

the best pilot I ever flew with was a female. That being said a couple of the worst ever I have flown with were female too.

Seems to me that they are either one extreme or the other.
