I'm wondering what alaskas policy is concerning seat locks. If one was to get based in LA out of ground school, how long does would the commitment be in LA before you could get to SEA? Also, does ALK differentiate between the 737-400's and the 700/900s when it comes to training. In other words is ALK like southwest, where a 737 pilot is a 737 pilot for all series or is there a line drawn between the two at ALK? Thanks for any info.

I am not 100% certaing but I believe there are no seat locks. As soon as you are done with training (I guess you can even do it while in training) you can place a bid for a different domicile and/or aircraft. It took a buddy 1 year to go from his assigned LAX base to SEA.
You can either fly the 737-200 only if based in ANC or the 737-400/700/900 if based in SEA or LAX.

...and

All correct, also there is a lock of two years from right seat to right seat after your first bid. This doesn't apply to upgrade from right to left.
