From the Chief Pilot's Newsletter:
2 more in January to the 737-200 in ANC
6 more in March to the 737-4/7/8/9 in ANC
6 more in April to the 737-4/7/8/9 in ANC
All to be from the pool

Congrats!

Yep. That's the word in the Flt Ops building as well. Nothing scheduled for the MD through the summer except CQ (recurrent). The class in Jan was to also include 2 instructors (that's where the number of 4 came from that I passed along to some of you).

Congrats to those getting the call. I am going off the schedule for a while to work on curriculum development for 2006, so I might be out of touch with the rumors and the developments for the time being and probably won't have much to add here for the next several months. Again congrats and good luck to everyone.

I read the letter to be two additional classes of three each, not six each, for a total of six between the two classes.

Here is the wording verbatim:

A. There is another class of 2 in January for the 737-200 in ANC. Also there is another class in March and April for 737-4/7/9 positions in ANC, totaling 6 Pilots for both. All Pilots in these classes come from the hiring pool.

I asked the 737 training scheduler about their plan (for clarification), and the answer I got was 6 additional pilots in addition to the Jan class. So, I guess what you are saying is correct.

2 pilots, 6 pilots?

With so many retirements this year, what the heck is going on? Are they not hiring because they WANT to cancel flights this summer? Are they planning on doing away with the retirement for new hires?

FWIW, some USAF reserve units will deactivate next month, which will return some (roughly 30) Alaska pilots back to the company. I don't know if they are taking that into consideration or not.

filling the bid

10 already started
2 more on the 31st
3 in March

18 newhires (per the bid). I guess that's it until another bid.
