I have searched this forum and looked on aviationinterviews.com and willflyforfood, but there is not a lot of info on recent interview experiences at Alaska Airlines. Can any recent interviewees please respond? I got the call and am interviewing next week.
Thanks,
Ben Gunn

I've heard they dropped the sim ride, and the whole thing is an HR type interview now. I don't know if they ask any technical questions, but I would imagine they do. Good luck.

the sim ride is on a case by case basis. I don't think there is any firm guidance on who can expect one or not. It's up to the higher ups in the process.

Thanks for the responses. Anyone else interview recently?
Ben

Alaska

Interviewed last Oct & started in Dec. Sim ride is on a case-by-case basis. Only two people in my class had to fly one (MD80) based on their low total time/experience. Also sim availability might be a player, but when they called me I asked them about it and they told me that I would not have to do one so I don't thing it would be a last minute decision to have you fly one so ask the HR lady (Benita) about it. The other stuff is very straightforward. Tell me a time when you ??????? etc, etc. Very few tech stuff, read this jepp plate, what mins, loss of equipment (DME) etc. Also had to write a short bio about myself. No big deal there.

Good luck hopes it helps.

I can answer my own question now. They send you all the paperwork to fill out and bring with you to the interview. The interview consisted of writing a short autobiography and then a panel interview with HR and some line captains. Some basic approach plate questions were asked and a lot of "get to know you" type questions. The panel interview was about 1 to 1.5 hrs long. They called two days later and offered me a job.
Thanks for the previous responses.

Congratulations BenGunnII...

I can't wait for the phone call, whenever it may come - hopefully sooner rather than later.

Class date?

Congrats BG. Did you get a class date yet?

Things finally moving.....

Glad to hear people are getting Called. Congrats to all.

The word on the street is that its going to take a year or more to get through the Silver Bullets before guys off the street enter the mix.

Congrats!!!

Congrat's BGII

Way to go. Hope to see you all there one of these days. But first I am awaiting my phone to ring also.

What's the pass\fail % (interviewed\hired) for Alaska?

Z

...anyone?

I just heard that only 2 were selected last month out of an interview group of 9.

What do you think the weaknesses are? Autobiography? Tech?

Well I had my board on March 1st and thought it went well and did not get the offer. Time to start over and prepare for next year.

Just heard that there is a very controversial Psyche Exam. Can anyone who's had it lately give us a little insight? (the voices in my head are beckoning...)

Mookie

No psyche exam, controversial or otherwise. Very straightforward. Write the auto-bio, then the panel interview... Mostly H.R. with some approach-type questions and a dash of technical/systems questions.
