Hi all - looking for the answers to the following questions:

1) Is hotel paid for during training and where is it?

2) Do they provide a rental car for the class to share?

3) Who pays for uniforms? Price?

4) What can one expect to pay for family medical insurance?

5) What is the sked? ie. How many weeks of Indoc, Systems, Sim, IOE?

6) Will they positive space you home between training cycles or for weekends?

7) When do you get ID and can start jumpseating?

8) When does the family get to start using pass travel?

9) Does anyone use the Bose X in the 737 or MD-80?

Thanks in advance for the info!!

Here are some answers. Did you get hired?

Hi all - looking for the answers to the following questions:

1) Is hotel paid for during training and where is it?

No

2) Do they provide a rental car for the class to share?

No

3) Who pays for uniforms? Price?

The pilot pays for the uniform. Shirts at the shop are around 17.00 and pants are 52.00. The Blazer that they make you buy is around 150.00ish, but you will never wear it.

4) What can one expect to pay for family medical insurance?

My family insurance runs around 75 per check. That includes medical, dental and vision.

5) What is the sked? ie. How many weeks of Indoc, Systems, Sim, IOE?

Two weeks of indoc that runs Monday thru Friday. 0800 to 1500. Systems is the same. Sim and OE are subject to availability. Sim is typically 3 or 4 days with 2, 3 or 4 days off. But those days off can be used for extra sims if you need them.

6) Will they positive space you home between training cycles or for weekends?

No positive space during weekends off. Just normal non-reving.

7) When do you get ID and can start jump seating?

First week of indoc you get an ID that will allow you to jump seat home.

8) When does the family get to start using pass travel?

I believe it is after the first full month of employment.

9) Does anyone use the Bose X in the 737 or MD-80?

Bose in the 737, not in the MD.

Thanks in advance for the info!!

What do most guys in training do for housing (those who are not from the SEA area) if the company does not provide it?

Alot that are not from the area stay with their sponcers as I am. Others do the hotel thing and some even share an apt for the three months. Do what ever makes sence for you! Once hired you should get a contact list of of other class members and you can and try to figure things out. Good luck!

They make you pay for your wings and hat emblem too. The generosity never ends. Really, if you want to bring your spouse to your "anniversary party" you'd have to pay 50 bucks. How generous.

This is no longer true. At least in August, we were handed our epaulets and brass by the Chief Pilot at the end of training.

There is a list of hotels that give discounts. to Alaska crews.

I believe that was our former CP, who happened to get "dismissed" for doing the right thing; don't know much about what exactly happened. Yesmen and those who swallow continue to prevail in this society. I bought and paid for everything; nothing was given free except for the pubs.

When did you finish training? Because while I know it was the former CP's idea, and a good one IMHO, it was the current CP who handed us the brass.

He was fired because he was going to sustain the grievance against the VSA rates over the July 4th weekend. That was the straw the pushed Finan and Forrest over the edge.

It's a great idea that the CP hands out wings. That requires leadership, something our boys and girls at the puzzle palace lack.

As a general rule, how long after the second interview should it take to hear something? Some guys say they were hired the same day, some others said they got the call nearly two weeks later.

Some have been forgotten for months so I heard from one of my class mates. A gal was called two months after her interview and offered a class. My suggestion would be to wait no longer than two weeks and call to inquire about your status.

Good luck!!
