Hi,

A few questions for you:
Is ALK hiring dispatchers?
What is new hire pay?
What is max pay?
Do you work 4-10 shifts?
How do you like the job and what is a typical day like?

Thanks

Contact S5Dispatch he's the most junior (read graveyard) at Alaska.

I'm sure he can give you ALL kinds of info!

GOOD LUCK with that....

No we are not hiring anyone anytime soon, sorry. We are just hopeful not to have any furloughs anytime soon. There are 4 assistants shifts 5am-3pm and 2pm-12, 4 on 4 off. Assistants update notams, file paperwork, update Jepps, answer phones, help take flights if a dispatcher is overworked and assist in anything needed. Which department do you work in?

Alaska Airlines Dispatch Payscale:
2008 Payscale/Per Hour:
  • Year 1: 20.85
  • Year 2: 21.84
  • Year 3: 24.10
  • Year 15: 44.12
  • 15 Year Top Out
  • 10 and 8.5 Hour Shifts
  • Mornings, Graveyard and Assistants 4 on 4 off 10 hour shifts
  • Swings 5 on 3 off 8.5 hour shift

Ditto for "red headed step child" only with deep furloughs and attrition, 5-eights/2 off schedules, and no shift trades.

I am a first officer on my way out the door due to a medical condition. I don't think its going to work anyway because I am finding out that I can't collect a medical pension and work for Alaska at the same time.
