I hope to see upgrade in 3-4 years.

I think it will be double that. If things stay the same. Funny i move up 100 seniority points in one year and there has been no upgrades. People just cannot live on PSA's wages. Monday's should be buy your F/O a coffee day! Hell everyday should be buy your F/O a coffee day. I need a beer!

Don't worry. The airlines will park the 50seat capacity, try to "upsize" all of it into the 70-100 seat aircraft. The next down cycle, they'll find out that flying a 70-100 seat plane with 30-35 people can't make money, then the 50 seaters will be back....

Ta dah! Give the player the money Kathy.

And to add to that - they'll also realise that people don't like to fly turbo-props, so all this stuff about the superior seat-mile numbers of todays modern turbo-props doesn't mean a hill of beans - while there are 50 seater JETS out there airlines will fly them for competative reasons.

Wrong! That airplane is done! Sit back and watch! The trend has started! Look at SkyWest flying 90 seaters for 50 seat pay! If they can pay just a little more to get folks to fly 70/90 seaters for close to 50 seat rates...... well makes sense to park all the 50 seaters!
Look at what our labor friendly Doug Parker said! The day of how many seats are behind you, doesn't matter anymore!!! Lovely, Just Lovely!

True, some passengers will bitch and complain about flying in a Q400 "puddlejumper" that is almost as fast and even quieter than a CRJ-200...but they'll love the $250 round trip fare from BGM to BNA through PHL they bought on Priceline.

Pax want cheap fares? Let 'em complain about the props out the window.

Let's get honest. If you think anyone is happy with our wages, you are stupid. However, the RJ pays a hell of a lot more than 135 freight, and more than TP flying regionals. Now the RJs are starting to pay more than the mainlines. I don't know if you've noticed that or not. I would be happy making 180k, 220k or more every year, but UPS or FEDEx haven't called. As you put the blame of your pilot group's mistakes on us, it's still not our fault. If you were at colgan, or AirNet and had the opportunity to go to RAH, Horizon, AWAC, or another decent place, you'd go. Your family would be mad as hell if you gave up time with your kids and more money for you to live on and retire with for some BS ideals.

Many of us can't help the situation that we're in, but we can make the most of us. However, with mainline wages below ours on larger equipment, the next round of CBA is going to be tough....

stay tuned....

oops...

Ah. I think I missed the point of your post.

It's just funny how times change, in the early 90's the majors and regionals couldn't get 50 seater jets fast enough. Now they can't get rid of them fast enough.

That's because the 50 seat RJ has done its job: Leveled wages in the industry.

Now, it's time to get pilots to fly 70, 90, or 100 seaters for the same rates. That's exactly what Parker has proposed, and I'll bet every negotiation from here on out goes right down to the wire on this issue.
