Seriously, I'm sure flying with your employees would be enjoyable, but this back and forth games get old. Pull back to give TPG a little scare, then come back with just a little more and see who blinks...?

Actually, this really could be a brilliant move on Joe's part. There's been speculation that TPG and NWA never intended to actually go through with this, and that the real game was just trying to drive up the price in a bidding war. If that's true, then Joe probably left them kicking themselves after they got stuck with a $400 million deal that they didn't want. Now, instead of getting stuck in a bidding war that could have driven the price up much further, he's coming back a few days later with just a $.25/share increase. If TPG and NWA really didn't want this deal and just got stuck, then they'll tell Timmy to drop dead and they aren't budging a cent over $16. Guess we'll see just how much NWA and TPG really wanted this airline.
 
Now they are just blowing money. They must be desperate. $445 million for a $75 million dollar company.

Sometimes it is better to just swollow your pride.
 
Nothing but a desperation move by AirTran. Just a classic example of Uncle Joe trying to save face...again. All cash offer by TPG is still better than the cash/stock split for investors, even if they are bumping it up by 25 cents a share. Will be interesting to see though if Midwest goes back to the table with TPG for a higher offer.
 
Poor Joe. Don't think you can offer the international codeshare and feed NWA can in MKE and MCI. The future is international. The domestic is saturated with low cost and no room for growth compared to the international market on the verge of exploding. There will eventually be one or two LCC's join in an alliance or worse a merger and think SWA will have a codeshare with a legacy with large international (Asia & Europe) sooner than later.

any airtran pilot should be thinking, he's offering more money to someone else but is lowballing us with that ********************ty TA.
