I'm in the 3 June class and am looking for a little info from current Airtran pilots/trainees.

First, what seems to be the lodging arrangements of choice during training? Do guys in the class group up and share hotels or is a crashpad the way to go.

Second, what is a decent hotel that is convenient to the training center?

Third, I plan to move to ATL and am looking for decent condo/apartment complexes that are convenient ( within 30 minutes or so ) to the airport. I understand that south of the loop is the way to go, anybody have suggestions?

Thanks for any input.

Send a PM to Jetdawg. He has a few crashpads in the ATL area that are close to the training center. At least 2 other new hires from that 3 June class will be there, as well as one guy from an earlier class.

I live in Peachtree City. If you're married, it's a great place to be. Don't ask me why I moved here, I'm single. Sharpsburg and Newnan are also up and coming places on the Southside.

Atlanta is a great place to be. Vinings is a nice area but I doubt it is within 30 minutes of the airport. It's an upscale area with reasonable rent - and hot chicks!!!!!!!!!

I lived in Vinings and it is EASILY 30 minutes from the airport. It is a much easier commute than from either Peachtree City or Newnan. There is no traffic in either direction on that side of 285 (you seem to be going against whatever rush hour traffic there is), but on the west side of 285, there is little develpment, so the traffic is light until you get all the way up to I-75.

It is close to downtown and Buckhead, if you are into the nightlife. Although if you are into golf with Delta pilots, then Peachtree City would be more favorable. ;)

All in all, I highly recommend looking at Vinings. Easy commute, close to everything, VERY nice area.

Congrats on the class!!!!!!!

As for lodging, the Country Inn and Suites is a nice place. They offer an AirTran discount, $40 per night. Nice clean rooms with a breakfast in the morning. Lorraine works the front desk at night. If you stay 30 days or more, no city taxes (I think?). They have double/double avail with fridge and micro. There is a small mexican rest. attached. So so food. It'll do in a pinch. This place is not in the best neighborhood and is not walking distance but it is a 5 minute ride right up the road to the training center. 770-991-1099

There is also a hotel walking distance from the training center (about a 10 minute walk). A few resturants are around there but still don't be out after the sun goes down. It use to be the Radison but has a new sign out front something like the Airport South Hotel or something along those lines. This place is more of a high rise hotel (10 floors). Not sure about the rates or food in the morning but I do know there is a rest. in the hotel. ($8 hamburgers). No Number avail, Sorry. Might be under Radison South the the directory.

I commute but crash in Sharpsburg. Nice place to stay 3 nights a month.

Again congrat and see you on line. BuckO

Flx is right. I live in the Smynings (Vinings + Smyrna area)

I looked into PTC and Newnan, but not being married I didn't see any reason to move there. If anyone needs a crash pad or what not I know of one so PM me. It is ok, and about 35 min to the Pilot Training Center.

There aren't company provided hotel rooms for newhires?
