Not sure if this has been previously posted.

Anyone else take offense to the banner in the crew room for "Galley Hag" appreciation month...

"For those who work without an autopilot" not an exact translation as I only saw an I phone pic of it.

Man was I pissed!

What do y'all think would be a great response banner for "Pilot Appreciation Month"????

Balloons and everyting. I wish I was.

As I said, I saw the photo ala iphone. If it were a fake...it were a good one.

I opted to go strait to the bus tonight rather than go verify and raise my B.P. ten points!

Now I really want to hear some of those clever FlightInfo responses to this type of injustice.

The guy who showed me the pic promised to leave the 71's seatbelt sighn on auto...cute!

Maybe you should fly freight.......

Hey man, the freighters I've had the pleasure to fly with have all been top notch. Perhaps I should've been more clear. What I was thinking was what kind of bitching would there have been had the pilots posted something so condescending about the FA's? We'd have been bitch slapped...that's what.

When the s#!t hits the fan, gimmie a freight dog and preferably one who flew in the rockies at night. Big ones!

Galley Hag is kinda' a term of endearment. It shows a little solidarity with fellow employees who are stuck in the trenches. Sort've like freight dog or grunt; no offense should be taken.

I saw the sign a couple weeks ago in the crew lounge. I thought it was just a funny little jab at us. No big deal. I personally feel that this world needs a little more humor and a lot less people who get "offended" by every little darn thing that's not "politically correct". If you can't laugh about somethings then you should probably just go home and shoot yourself now cause life's alot happier when you can. Lord I apologize, and be with the starving kids in Riverdale.

By the way, I think our theme for Pilot's Day (if they ever have one) should be. "For those that can safely transport passengers even with the ugly a** FA's they're given."

..."For those that can safely transport passengers even with the ugly a** FA's they're given."

You're sayin' that AAI's f/a's are ugly next to, say, UAL, DAL, LLC or NWA, etc?

Would "Homely Cat Rancher" appreciation month make you feel any better?
No, but for "pilot appreciation month", how about a banner that says, "For the professionals who know how to pronounce "AirTran" - you don't have to "aks" if there's an "s" on the end of our airline's name".

You think the flight attendants would take offense to that? Same thing they just did to us by inferring all we do is push buttons, turn the autopilot on, then sit back all fat, dumb, and lazy.

Can't say it angers me; I know better than to take serious offense, as should the flight attendants with that pretend slogan in the first paragraph above. What bothers me is the airline's obvious attempt at starting a PR war; alienating the other employee groups from "those greedy, lazy pilots" in anticipation of our upcoming return to negotiations.

It's sad, really, and I kind of hope it was just an innocent blunder by the same mensa scholar that came up with the idea of putting "airtranica" on the side of one of the airplanes.

I think I have it now, the sign says "For those who work without an autopilot", not "Galley Hag". At first I thought there was a "Galley Hag" sign up. That would probably raise a few eyebrows.

As far as the FAs go, the vast majority really have no idea what goes into being a pilot...from the effort it took to get where you are today, to the ultimate responsibility we have on a daily basis.

Buy them a beer on the overnight, and you'll be in their good graces if it means that much to you. Either that, or lift their bags out of the overhead bin for them.

Now management on the other hand, I do see the subtlety of the message they are trying to send. Shame on them. Very Passive-Aggressive!!!!!!

That's the point I was trying to make...

If we had a management group like Southwest's for example, I could overlook it as a "ha-ha" kind of funny and take it in the good-natured spirit that Southwest would intend.

Coming from this management group with the latent hostility they love to show every month with new policies, changing contract, changing status quo, terminations, etc, I can't help but take it the same way you did.

I don't believe this management group does ANYTHING by accident.
