But if they are going to change their name, how 'bout:

S.C.A.R.E. = Scabs Crashing Airplanes into the Remote Everglades

The last time they changed their name was because of "the accident", so maybe AirTran is planning another accident in the near future? Why else would you guys want to change your name?

In all seriousness, this is not a flame, AirTran is a great airline.

I know, I know, what a horrible thing to joke about, lets be politically correct, yada, yada, yada. Take a chill pill.

No, its not about "political correctness". Its also not about "taking a chill pill".

Its about an absolutely assinine comment from some anonymous internet @sshole!

Not really. It is the truth, and sometimes the truth hurts. Every airline has their scabs, and AirTran has a bit more than the norm.

Check out the jumpseat protection list, pg. 38:

Candalyn C Kubeck
Eastern 89 SCAB
Hired ValuJet EMP NO 65790
Capt. on ValuJet Everglades disaster

Maybe if a real captain was flying that airplane those blessed pax would still be around today?

Congrats datafox,

I have never read a bigger a@@hole post than yours, and thats saying a lot on this board.

Bman, even a cursory look at Mesa's numbers would tell you that is not possible. AirTran's market cap (shares times price) is two and a half times bigger than Mesa's. That would be kind of like a hippo trying to eat an elephant.

I don't know how much free cash they have, but we are sitting on $600 million right now, and have no desire to merge with anyone. when you are growing like we are and making money, why get involved in a huge, messy merger that derails your focus? Look at USAirways and UAL. How many billions did they squander trying to blindly do that boondoggle?

How's your new life at AWA? What airplane did you get?

With all due respect Ty, do the names "Texas International" and "Francisco Lorenzo" ring a bell? AAI market Cap sits at 1.0 billion. An $18 tender offer would cost 1.5 billion, and that buys $600 million in cash. There is a lot of cash just sitting around waiting to get squandered now that the internet bust is becomming just a memory. never say never, and be prepared for ANYTHING ;)

TBag,
By that thought DAL, UAL, USA and all the others are a great buy. With much more to offer for a little more money.

Datafox,
I have walked a picket line. So I feel very secure in stating you deserve an ass kicking more that any other person I've ever seen a post from.

Datafox,

The Valujet accident was caused by a SabreTech employee, who, in attempting to clear space on their shelves, placed a cardboard box (labeled simply as "Aircraft Parts") with mislabeled (as empty) oxygen generators. There was a fire in the cargo compartment of this aircraft even before it left the ground, and NO PILOT....scab or otherwise, could have saved it, short of not taking off. And in those days, cargo fire warning and suppression systems were not required on commercial aircraft. It was SabreTech and some of their individual employees that faced criminal charges resulting from this accident.

I agree with the others that your post is one of the most misinformed, asinine and inflammatory posts ever to be posted on this board. You say "the truth hurts". Maybe a good place for you to start would be to know the "truth".

Your post only serves to prove your true character, and that your posts should simply be ignored. Why don't you go find another sandbox to play in or someplace else to post your lame attempts at flame. At the very least, go educate yourself so you don't appear so stupid, or maybe there is nothing you can do about that. Stupid is as stupid does. Dredging up accidents for any reason other than to learn from them in hopes of preventing similar situations in the future serves no purpose whatsoever.

I'll have no further comment to you or this thread. My time is far to valuable to waste.

Hm hm,

Keeping issues seperate is sometimes difficult, but it shouldn't be in this case. Being a scab has nothing to do with the airplane crashing into the everglades. In addition to the scab list there should be a list for: Insensitive-ignorant-narrowminded-should never.work.for.any.airline people. And guess what, let's make datafox the first entry!!!

Brgds,

dane

The fact that you came back later and edited this post shows that there was some thought put into it. That's an even scarier thought than the original post. You are sick man, and should seek professional help. Peolpe like you shouldn't even be allowed ON an airplane as a passenger. I certainly hope you are not a pilot.
