but it's usually with a wink wink. i know of a couple TWA fellows who "resigned" from AA before going to Air Tran, needless to say they're being recalled now.

That's because AA will not accept resignation letters from pilots who are not "active". It's not the wink wink from AirTran. It's that AA just trashes the letter.

I think that's what he meant.

Most companies will accept them for the record but toss them in the can.

"wink wink" from AA, not AirTran

that's what i meant. usually a phone call will rescind the resignation letter from your former employer.

Never had to resign my number. Never heard of anyone who has at Airtran.

If you were furloughed from a legacy, it has been the standard policy for the last 4 years....maybe more.

Midwest screwed more than a few guys with that "wink, wink" we won't accept your resignation. Guess what? They accepted all the resignations, even knowing they had put guys out on the street for the second time in 14 months! Tread very carefully with that. What was send in person was VERY different that what they did, and how the acted. The company did nothing to help us out. All we heard was, "well, you can re-apply". The union could do nothing to help. Good luck.
