Quick question for all you Citrus drivers out there. Regarding the 500 hr 121 PIC requirement that AirTran has, will they count PIC time that comes from flying as a seat captain? For instance, if the F/O is typed and is part of an international flight where three crew members are required because of the long legs.

thanks,
johnny

Most airlines only count 121 PIC turbine time only if you are the pilot who actually signed the Dispatch Release. This is a good question though and would be worth a call to H.R. to find out for sure.

Thanks Don,

a buddy of mine mentioned this to me since he is employed with a small carrier that does alot of overseas flying. I will post any info I get here.

Good luck contacting H.R.!!!!

I tried a half dozen times to contact HR to see how they specifically treat military flight time (if they honor the 0.3/leg conversion). I have called and e-mailed with no response for two months. I even asked this question to a buddy upgrading to captain with them and he couldn't answer the question specifically. Would be nice for them to post this type of info (and the 121 PIC answer) on their website like other companies do.....

Sorry folks... I know HR is pretty busy over there in MCO... and they probably have one phone, outdated Dell and a fax machine that works half time... LOL

I'm just a no name FO with absolutely no clout with the front office .. However, I do know they have 3 Senior Captains that review the resumes, and a HR staff of just a couple folks... (not very heavy on the admin help, ie low fares !) After the interview, Klaus gives the final nod... Nothing fancy...

I can check with the CPO. Maybe they know... I'll ask around ... and post on the board. I have an ex TWA bud that did the cruise cappy thing and wanted to know too...

Gut feeling would be... if you didnt sign the release... no joy.... But I will check. PM me if you want.... Good Luck.... It is a pretty good place to work.. No beef tip crew meals at FL....... Pretty fun crews and decent schedules.... pay will improve with time..
