You guys are hilarious. Why would SW pilots be worried about this? We pretty much have ever ounce of leverage. How about the leverage on the AAI side? You have Linden and TO, that's about it. Good luck to you guys.

Sounds to me like the MEC probably reigned them in, considering the last time they were sent to DAL, they returned with a good deal that was then $hit-canned in ATL.

Remember, the MEC recalled TO for getting to involved with the MC. Later, the MEC said the doomed AIP was partly their fault because they didn't involve themselves enough and the MC had no direction or limits. What a bunch of morons!

It seems to me that before any MC/NC meetings, you trannies need your leadership to smooth things over with GK.

Airtran MC not coming to Dallas?

I think the subject of the original post should be Airtran MEC not comming to Dallas? I think MC is master of ceremonies or something like that!?!
Are you serious? lol ;)

MC is Merger Committee. And contrary to the popular rumor of the day, they are indeed on their way to Dallas (one already lives there).

The MEC was never supposed to come to Dallas today, although the company removed them from flying last Thursday (non-disciplinary). Alleged reason was "distractions to the flight crews", but the rumor is that GK wants them to be available to fly to Dallas, if needed, this week, without having to take time to get them off their trips and get them out there.

Alleged reason was "distractions to the flight crews",

I guess so. 7 people voting for the careers of 1700? My guess is the 1700 don't share the views of the 7. Not only would I not fly, I'd prolly look for another address.

Should have been voted on. Yes or No, no matter. The pilots should vote.

Now that the 7 on the MEC made that decision, the real question is what will get their vote to forward the next one?

Obviously, SWA has made clear their decision to take all economic incentives of the table. SWAPA has made clear that there won't be any movement in ALPA's direction. The only chance for a negotiated deal is one that is better for SWA pilots. Will the MEC, though, be willing to present a deal to their membership that has far less in terms of economics, less protections for trannies, and possibly less seniority?

This is not meant to piss anyone off. I'm genuinely curious...and concerned.

Good question...

Then you don't understand what a representational democracy is, even though you are living under one right now.

Does your Congressman call you and ask your opinion on each and every vote? Does he even call you at all? No. But he does take calls and opinions. Now, if he's doing his job, he counts up those opinions and interjects logic with the end result being a decision that protects his constituents.

That is exactly what our MEC did after receiving an overwhelming number of calls and opinions from their constituents, coupled with legal advice from our attorneys. The MEC protected us from a lopsided, unfair, and inequitable SLI. They realized early on that the fear mongerors and defeatists had made up lies and then spread them. So, a true vote based on facts could not possibly have taken place. Therefore, the MEC voted the AIP down.

It's very telling how some SWA people on here try to tell ATN pilots how to run their show. It clearly shows SWAPA's growing anxiety over going to arbitration. Why? Because a panel of arbitrators can not be bought off, bullied, or coerced into delivering anything that is not fact and legal based. Only arbitration can deliver a pure result.
