Just a question.. I attended recurrent this past week, and one of the instructors mentioned that leather was not available for new hires?

How can that be ? Maybe someone has better intel.....

I sure hope you're getting bad gouge, 'cause all I have is the leather jacket. It helps out big-time during the winter months. That jacket and a long sleeve shirt will get you by in most temps -- plus helps out on the packing for 3-4 day trips when you don't have to pack a jacket! Though, it does suck leading up to May in ATL "having" to wear it.

I saw a buddy of mine in training last week; the guys in the new-hire class were trying out leather jackets from the company store while I was there.

I think you got wrong info. Maybe the company store ran out of jackets and they need to reorder?

Thats good...! It is really good for commuting. Stuff it in a ball a pack it in your rollerboard. No wrinkles baby !!!

I dont neccessarily like how warm it is in the spring and early fall either.. Thanks for the reply and excellent intel !!! See ya on the line.

They are gone according to my info as well. The last class were the last ones that were able to order them. My buddy in the new hire class said that its his understanding that if you got them before that your good according to the uniform person. But Im just a new guy too....so im not 100% positive.

ahhh.... just get the Sew Fine lady off of Virginia Ave to put a little velcro on it.. Yeah... not sure bout them epaulettes ? I know the company jackets... latest anyway... were Cooper brand.. thinking based in NJ ??

Yes they are being cut. If yoiu have one or can find one you can still wear it. The reason, Joe Leonard wants them gone. Now we will have people who wear the leather, the suit coat, and now for your viewing pleasure trench coats. That will look, dare I say...........UNIFORM.

Hope they are not gone but if the are...

To order the epaulettes and the name patch contact Deanna P. Eason at HPDirect (I think they are affiliated with the company store somehow, I’m not sure?)

Direct Line: 678-781-9362, Main Line: 678-942-1801 Ext: 9362, email: [email protected], or [email protected]

Below is the info she sent me when I placed the order:

“I am not sure if you are a first officer or captain so I listed both items for you.

When you order the patch make sure you tell the customer service person that you also need the Velcro for the patch. [it’s brown Velcro which matches the jacket]

First Officer:

Patch: AT4999BK

LLBean Epaulettes: AT4985BR

Captain:

Patch: AT4998BR

LLBean Epaulettes: AT4986BR

[Note! They have regular epaulettes too; the LLBean version fits the jacket much better as they are slightly tapered and slightly smaller. If you look at the “regular” epaulettes for the jacket you’ll find out they are too large for the epaulet-strip on the jacket]

Thanks

Deanna"

I still think www.airborne-leathers.com have the best deal. The leather itself is slightly thicker than the company version and you really can’t beat their price. Best thing to do, try the company store first, if it’s still available, and then try Abbots (close to Virgina Avenue). If you prefer Abbots’ version, buy from airborne-leathers. (I do NOT get any kickbacks, I promise! Every new-hire in my class ordered from them based on the price alone!)

Hope this helped,
