Airtran got ACARS? When did that happen?

Been coming online slowly.

737 has been a lot faster, I don't know all the details on their fleet, but we still aren't up to PCL standards on the 717 side.

717 Weight & Balance via ACARS works, and works well, but we still haven't given up the paper W&B forms yet. Hopefully by the end of this quarter.

ACARS messages are available, but still hit and miss.

Coverage is where it was the first year PCL brought it up, but it's gotten a LOT better in the last 6 months.

What IS neat (and different) about the AirTran ACARS system is that the box will automatically put in all your weights and v-speeds when you're done inputting stuff, as well as passenger count, which zones, etc, which is very cool.

As far as the profit goes, glad to see it, and all you nay-sayers out there can pretty much BITE ME! ;) :D

Yeah ACARS at FL has been around a while now...ship 752(the last 717 made) was ironically the last 717 to get ACARS I believe...just as you guys don't have to call the times anymore I'm just as happy not putting them in...it did make inrange more fun though:)

Funny though the arrival fuel still doesn't register correctly hence us having you call the takeoff/landing pilot and fuel.....

Just got an email the other day from MCO saying we'll soon be able to send you the gate assignments via our flight plot...all ACARS all the time...only thing the inrange freq will be used for is on-the-ground changes and service requests! Airtran finally into the 21st century with technology!

Airtran got ACARS? When did that happen?

All of AirTran's aircraft have ACARS. The 737 fleet uses ACARS for weight and balance. 59 of the 717 aircraft have the weight and balance program. The other 28 717 aircraft are former TWA aircraft and have a different ACARS program. The program is being updated on those 28 aircraft. Once the update is complete, the 717 fleet will use ACARS for weight and balance, no paper. Within the next few months, ACARS will be used for weight and balance, inrange calls, wx and what ever else they can think of.
